I am loving this kids education. Can I bring one of my old land rovers up for the next project??
My brother did exactly this with his son, my nephew Chris, when he was 16. They bought an old Series 3. Swapped out the chassis for a nice new galvanised one and a new bulkhead etc and started the rebuild
Fast forward about 10 years and it's still not complete, sitting in my brother's garden looking sad:(
Chris now has a young family and work hard for a plant servicing and repair company.
Do you want a nice project Series 3 :ROFLMAO:

We don’t want to see him put off already 😆
Agree with that - any project for young enthusiast people needs to be achievable
When I started this plant malarky I towed with a succession of Land Rovers.
Loved them, especially the Disco 3 HSE
But the Land Rovers were always in the workshop having repairs and maintenance done.
Have now gone to the dark side with a very nice (from new) NP300 Navara

Did I mention that he had a Series 3 in his garden? Well it was started as a project with my nephew 18 years ago 🙄

Another excuse to catch up with my brother 🥰

Something worth doing when you are this far is adding some strengtheners in front to back like this.

Its a big help with wheeled machines and helps to save the floor as the weight doesn’t fall between the chimes.
I had one of these trailers once was a good trailer but it split up both sides like the red marks in the pic. Quite surprised really but did seem quite a weak spot where the drawbar joins the crossmember- too much flex in the design I think

Thanks for this advice. I’ll have a good check at those points while it’s stripped down 👍🏻

I’ll let him know and see if he’s interested 😉
Today over the 3pm cuppa ☕️ with biscuits 🍪 he was showing me his TikTok feed - something about the planets 🪐 all lined up 😲
And blow me down as I took him home we looked up and saw at least 3 planets 🪐 up there all glowing brightly ☺️
