Few photos from the weekend- not many/the best because the weekend really didn't go to plan.
A mate and his father in law were showing 4 ex military vehicles at the Bedfordshire Steam and Country fair at Shuttleworth, free camping pass for me if I'd tow one there and back.
All going smoothly, delivered the little Bedford in convoy with 2 of the other trucks on Thursday late afternoon. Setting up camp I started feeling rough, 8.30pm I felt so rough I headed for home. Got on the A1 and 🤮🤢 Bit of a rough night but plenty of sleep and was better but not quite right, headed back for 7pm Friday.
A good evening and a fantastic day yesterday, but by about 4pm I was knackered, come 6pm I was feeling ropey again, packed up the roof tent and shot off home about 8 😞
Went back again at packing up time today, picked up the LR 109 and followed the little Bedford about 30 miles on back roads back to their yard. Would have been a lovely drive in decent weather!
What a brilliant show though, definitely going back next year! Hopefully I'll have my MG5 sorted by then..

No idea what it was, amazing looking machine though!
Yeah real shame, I've been looking forward to this one for months. Oh well, there's always next year.
Just had my form back for Stotfold Mill working weekend in October, which is one of my favourites, taking the Dexta and plough. Trouble is I've got to go to Yorkshire on the Sunday 😆 🤣

Last show of the season, family birthday in Yorkshire and a couple of nights in the rood tent 👍👍
Saturday and Sunday was the Stotfold Mill Working weekend, took the Dexta and plough, great day on Saturday despite the wind.
Sunday I headed off to Hawes up in the Dale's for my Dad's birthday in a lovely little hotel.
Monday was a wander round town then I took a scenic route over to Horeton in Ribblesdale, had a very relaxed evening with a little fire in the Woodburner and a good book 👌
Yesterday morning I walked up Ingleborough for the first time in years, incredibly windy and raining sideways on the top but pleasant enough lower down, really enjoyed it.
Headed south to Buxton, got a few bits for dinner and a couple more books, then on to my regular stopping place at the Roaches.
Straight home this morning to see a customer and do some shed jobs 👍
I'm working in Dumfries next week, hotels are booked from Sunday but I'm tempted to go up as far as Yorkshire on Saturday, might walk up Whernside or something similar😆
Did the Yorkshire 3 peaks 16 years ago, haven't been there since, no real reason, just been elsewhere 🤔

Well what a difference 5 days has made to the views in Yorkshire!
After being home for a days work and 2 days of odds and sod, including an mot and service for the D4, I repacked for the next week or so and headed back up north.
To be honest I packed it all in the defender first, then had second thoughts about doing another 1000 miles with a rusty, slightly porous sump... if I didn't have another suitable vehicle I'd have taken it, no problem, but I have a back up so why chance it. New sump will be waiting for me when I get home.
I actually enjoyed Tuesdays walk in the fog a bit more than todays, but the views were fantastic 👌
I still really want a massey ferguson 3000 series again, but just not one from a hillside cattle farm 😆 .
Made my way over to Grasmere in the Lakes where the guy I'm working for had booked us in for the night before we head to Scotland first thing.
Didn't realise I was only a few miles from Therkeld Mining Museum, otherwise I'd have gone straight there for a couple of hours rather than sneaking through the gate for 1 picture at 5.10pm 😆 🤣

My d4 is due mot next week...bit crusty on the rear aches/cills....oh well let's see what Mr mot man says.

I do enjoy driving it....and I'm getting the new bracket to stop my towbar falling off, so I may just use it more for towing 🤪🤪

I had the letter, but I fitted a fixed one on mine. I’d seen online where people had just picked up the kit for a free spanner etc. oh no…: has to be booked in and assessed first 🙄

Well the kit arrived today, inside is a doubled sided a4 sheet of paper, giving you a website to visit or a qr code to scan to get this instructions on how to fit it, I can't get it to work, why they couldn't of just put said instructions on that paper I don't know.
It's prity self explanatory but what idiots think of these ideas.

It does come with a long spanner.

Next time I'm bored ill go and fit it 🤪

I bought a FrontRunner folding table thing for the back door of the Defender. Looked simple enough to fit- hold it up where you want, mark holes, fit with whatever fixings suit you- but it had a random bit of steel plate that I couldn't work out.
10 minutes of trying to open the sodding QR code instructions later and it turns out the plate, and 90% of the instructions, are for 1 specific model of Jeep 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

In other news the d4 passed its test today so at least I've somthing decent on the road for the winter months.

Job all wrapped up yesterday, but with a hotel room paid for for tonight I've been playing tourist today 👍
Stocked up on fleeces (and lemon curd 😆) at a big country store, drive along the coast, tractor spotting, afternoon snooze, bit of reading and a walk round an aviation museum 👍👍
Very interesting tractor in the hotel carpark last night- 4wd MF135 with a big 2 furrow reversible plough.
