Is it not the other side of the blue plate in same space the air intake is?

Don't think there is any way to get at it without stripping the whole thing down There is no service/inspection hatch.
I was looking on eBay and there was a couple out if other stephill units that didn't have pulley on, although they could have just removed to keep as a spare.

Perhaps they buy them that way as they know you could not use one anyway.

It’s what I do!
Stop solenoid powered on to run, remove it, run fuel direct to find out if it works, you can always remove the fuel pipe to stop fuel to pump!

Still need a compression test.
Does speed of cranking increase if you hold down decompressor?

well that's a big yes as you're preventing any compression building in the cylinder(s)

Thats what you would expect IF it has good compression.

As it has fuel & air then compression & fuel injection timing are about all that left.

I had one clone that dropped a nut off the air filter bracket that held open a valve.

I never did get it running, have been doing bits on the unit the last day or so and found a wire not in its terminal, so new connector on and.....

Still the same 😭

Did do a video last time was looking at it, no idea if this is the right sort of spray pattern

How about the bumping clearance, if the engine has suffered a bent rod, you will need to take cylinder head off, if you have low compression the air temperature in the cylinder won’t get high enough to ignite the diesel.

good call ..... unswept volume/squish band has to be cock on to ignite the fuel charge in a diesel -- only source of ignition (y)

So maybe less hassle to just throw a chineseium replacement engine in?
If I was to go down that route would all the sensors retrofit

Mostly yes but a pain to sort the bat charging out.

I just fitted a mains charger that was direct wired into the AC.
