I never find dumpy bags let the water through quick enough. I know it might mean spending money, but you can get dumpy bags made out of proper filter material which works a lot better.

's gonna cut yer bag straps Mog :( and likely be a bitch to get 'em off if they survive .... got some tubes you could sit in the channels that'll slip on yer forks?? .... some 6" OD maybe or is that channel wider than that? tube is so much kinder to bag straps
before me bag lifter got created I used to put 114 dia. tubes across me forks and hang the straps on the tubes ... easy to thread through the loops with the forks lower than the loops, then just pick

Ye so think it'll cut the loops too unfortunately a couple of bits of box across the top with the bag hung on them so you can lift it down would work though. I tried making a one machine bag filling setup when we only had the tractor in the yard and I could never get anything to work very well that wasn't a faff a hopper on the forklift with a couple of hooks worked well though but ties up a forklift

also 60 ton of scrap including steel racking an old foden tractor unit and tautliner trailer🤫

but I digress got a job coming up where I will need to filter silted water out of a Reed bed so needed a couple of dumpy bag lifters that will hold a ton bag in an IBC to catch the solids and let the water out that we will pump into them out of the wash plant I built a few years back😉 and make a ton bag filling hopper so my grab can also fill dumpy bags so they can be left to drain out (only took a few pictures as I get in the ‘zone’)😳

started out with this from the above job a narrow steel rack not much use to me as a rack😢 but🤔

I need to spend more time “getting in that zone “

It isnt channel😉 it’s folded plate that used to be a set of fork extensions turned upside down, but I know what your saying I’ve ground the tops to give a round profile, but if they start cutting the loops will have to make some sleeves that the forks will go in need some rubber convayer belt to extend the hopper then I’ll have a trial run👍

yeh, can see they're formed channels Mog ... what about some 8" pipe slit in half to sit over them and lift the bags off with those .. maybe some box attached to the under side of the half pipe to sit in the channels and slip the forks into ?

Nice work if the bag holder doesn’t work you could try making the channel that holds the bag loops collapse inwards (hinge in the centre so it folds in on itself from a channel to a box making it narrower) as you lift the bag with the forks that way the weight will be on the forks and the bag will slide off easily
