ive seen you race at devon dorset and somerset meetings, i love the perret triumphs, some engineering into them. some quick riders in the pre classes. and some real tidy bikes.

Some of the best racing I’ve had down South, real competitive those boys!!

One of the best meetings i do is Combe Martin, fantastic place, fantastic scenery, a fantastic track and made all the better as that was the track I clinched my first British Championship.....

Yeah I know Pete, great bloke, very typical of the type of person races Classic MX, would help you our at a moments notice without hesitation, and he has helped me out a few times, is he on this Forum?, that’d be funny!, small world, tell him I said hello!

Yes mate, all three days, it was a great event as you say that got messed up for whatever reasons but probably money at the end of the day...

Must have been early on with union jacks etc. Used to have Manchester orchestra with pomp and circumstance. Then quo then ended up with comedians then i think the last year was a beer festival

So a quick update on the JCB, having taken the pump off in the hope of....well I don’t really know!!, I’m going to put it back on tomorrow, I’m going to try a combination of swapping the pipes around to see if that changes anything and also seems like I have a new found (very helpful) friend at JCB who’s going to give me some pointers......(hopefully), ultimately it’s going to cost me £££’s but at least I know sort of where I’m heading

Did you get anywhere with this? Whilst I was looking for some info for another job I found someone having a similar issue to yours. Have you checked servo pressure? There is a block that regulates pump pressure down to Servo pressure located near the main pump. Usually a gold coloured block, there are shuttle valves inside that can pop apart and cause the symptoms you describe. Worth a look I reckon? They are located behind the Allen bungs.

No further forward on it as yet, however I’ve located the pressure test valve block so I’m going to do some pressure tests on it. Strangely enough you’re not the first person to suggest servo pressure and now you’ve given me this heads up I can check this too.

That same block usually has the test ports attached so I'd say you'll find out soon enough.

I need to put my xt500 back together one day and take it round a Mx track.

that's a lump to wrestle round a track @Russell .... have had a few of those .... 'campaigned 'em in time trials and currently have an XT600 Tenere mono, which is a nice ride in comparison and everything the 500 wasn't!!

tha's an understatement Dyl ..... the DT175 was a lovely little thing .... the XT5 was a beast in comparison ...... buried one up to the tank in a bog once .... took a tractor to get the bar steward back out
