Is the backhoe loader a thing of the past?

I know you mean DTP, but the way you've quoted makes me sound dodgy!

I told him it was reliable, he drove it back to Cornwall overnight. Doesn't get much more reliable than that! :ROFLMAO:
yeh - see what you mean Doob - apologies ... you are quite correct - was referring to the other bunch of ****s ............. but you are dodgy, ain't you? :p:p;) :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: LOL

Having put my backhoe desires on the back burner due to getting regular free ish access to a 2.7t which sorts out the back end …. Just the front end to worry about now so I’ve been watching out for a 4in1 bucket for the 50hp tractor. This one has popped up locally and the seller is happy for me to take it away and try it for size. I’m worried it will be too big. The tractor has a 5’10” grain bucket that is almost too heavy when heaped with wet 803. Grain bucket is about 250kg and much deeper so centre of gravity further forward. I think it’s about 0.5m cube but not sure.
4in1 bucket at this size is 0.5m cube and weighs 410kg.
Will be interesting to see how it handles with having it wider and the weight closer to the tractor. Have a fair counterweight on the tractor and the loader runs out of lift, so I expect there might be a spot of play on the valves yet :)

There is a cheaper one that’s 5’5” in Chard which is half a days round trip away.. so there are choices.

Is there a reason you want a 4 in 1. It will be a fair weight on the front end. Will you be using for grading out sub-base, grabbing branches or the last bit of mot/spoil

Moving stock piles around and grabbing the odd lump of stuff . Maybe scraping up and down stone lanes and adding bits of material where they need it . So yes all of the above :)
Tractor is narrower than 6.6 with wheels turned in so having a bucket that’s a smidge wider than tractor seems to make sense.

Go for it, or like you say. Try it

Will it not be a bit hard work on a loader tractor with a change over instead of a true third service??

Quicke loader on the Tafe has spool block with dedicated auxiliary. Whole thing runs off a changeover above the hyd pump under the driver seat seat so you can choose wether you want oil at front or rear of tractors, I assume that’s what you mean? Oil flow isn’t crazy but it’s fine for running the bale clamp on the loader and suchlike. Not enough flow for a bucket brush though sadly
:-(
Not expecting great things but will see. Not having a F+R shuttle is the most annoying thing but you get used to it. Spent most of my teenage years mucking out sheds with a rear end loader with manual tip. Having a loader at the front and 4WD with power steering is a relative luxury.

I meant the button that changes crowd to aux as opposed to a separate lever or buttons so auxiliary and crowd can be used simultaneously.
Depending on your change spool set up you might have a spool a the rear that long hoses can be run to to run a bucket brush.

He says it has a dedicated aux, ie a third lever on the spool.

Either want a 4in1 off a Wain Roy/IH airtrac sized machine or skidsteer tbh.
Be warned using full width buckets on loader tractors for digging. They are vulnerable to twisting on the frame if you are doing tough digging.

Currently toying with putting a 4in1 on the skiddy, might not due to weight although I have the bucket in the yard and it might be the right size for you. £1000 if you wanted it. But I need to see what it looks like on the skidsteer first.

Same with Matbro.... But I will likely go normal bucket on that.

To the front (loader) spool block. Which has three spools. Unless I'm reading it wrong.

I had the same setup on my old International 454, it worked brilliantly.

I've never driven a loader tractor like that. Everything I've driven has a single button change over. Even the brand new tractors with factory fitted electric joysticks that can operate loader, front linkage or rear spools.
