well aftert nealry pulling the trigger on the ioniq5, decided to go for the new VW multivan PHEV. Can still put it though the books and no range worries while the charger network is sorted.
Interesting, so you can order them now? Phev is way to go atm...dont even need to charge em...🙄🤣 And guaranteed best parking spots at services...had a few pissed off looks from flat leaf owners ...oh you need to turn the charger on? Never mind I've a full tank of devil juice see ya👋

This may be a bit sad, I'm interested to know if anybody has any electric cars?
I have just bought through the business as 100% tax deduction

When you work out the cost vs say my old 2011 range rover it is staggering.

You need to do a couple of bits, one is get a price plan from a electric supplier which will give you economy 7 style price plans. Set the car to automatically charge between certain time in my case 12-4.30 am at 7kw then you can charge at 5p per KW and some cars will do 4 miles per kw. My route to work is around 8 miles so a net cost of 20p a day. or call it 30p and give myself some cover

My range costs me (per month)

£250 fuel
£50 tax
£83 depreciation minimum
£100 repairs and rubbish

Total £483 a month

A Audi Etron (80k car)

Tax - £0
finance is around £900 a month with 10k down
Tax saving is worth £316 a month overall

Range costs £483

Etron costs £900 minus £483 range costs minus £316 tax = net cost £101 a month for a brand new car with warranty.

You need a deposit ( mine will come from range sale) or buy outright and actually save money .

My man math is on point.
Good math. How long do you think the battery pack will last and how much to replace?, i have heard some ridiculous figures.

Its warranted for 100k miles and 8 years. I dont forsee it to be a major issue to be honest.

One of the guys on a FB group (taxi driver) has done 340k miles in his tesla, replaced his first set of pads at 270k his battery has lost 50 miles range in that time and is circa 230 miles from a original 280. He bought the tesla when they did free charging (superchargers) for some cars. In that time he has had free charging the whole time. Incredible really

just when you come to out it .... what's your annual mileage though Ross?

I'd imagine taxi-ing is an ideal scenario for the vehicle - in virtually constant use and with dedicated charging should remain at its optimum. ... lucky chap getting all those miles for zero fuel bill .... bet his rates didn't reflect it :(

It's worthwhile at the moment on electric but as more and more vehicles go full electric it will be pay per mile and them c units in government charging different rates dependant on road and time

we just sold our first electric Utility vehicle today, its wonderful to drive, plenty of power 40mph give or take and zero noise

Is that 40mph or Kph? I know several people who have the Polaris electric version and think they are great apart from too slow to be safe on the road. Off road no problems and great not to need ear defenders. No employees not checking the oil and water and spilling diesel on SSSI's.
If they did 40mph I would consider getting one as a run about rather than using my ranger. I'd save a fortune in fuel.

Thanks - spec looks like 40kph. A lot of difference between 24mph and 40 mph when you have lorries chasing you down the road.

40 Kliks according to your write up Ross ..... how long to charge from flat, 'cos that'd be when most of the giles,s round here'd stop driving it ... when it stopped. Can't decant a gallon of leccy into that out of an old drench can, in the middle of no where.

If you could get them on the plug in van grant list there is a 35% subsidy on the purchase price. You wouldn't be able to import them fast enough at just over £4k.
