Druidic Dabblings and General Twaddle !!

So I spent yesterday tinkering in the workshop, I'd picked up this stillage out of a skip at the datacentre a month or two ago, more on the "That's too good to be thrown away" front than I had any use for it. Anyway, her indoors is knitting a metre plus long replica of the Great Western Air Ambulance, and needed a set of landing gear made for it, so I suggested this as a donor;



So dragged it up the workshop, and set about chopping it apart with the plasma cutter, then the chop saw!



That pallet jack is mighty handy as an adjustable height platform!



So once I'd finished blowing holes in it, that's what we were working with.



Just a few bits leftover!



And the finished product. She was chuffed.

Sadly I managed to kill my favourite angle grinder in the course of action. Shall see if I can get it some new brushes or if it's totally fubar next weekend.

It was that or use my own spare steel. Needs must! Plus I got the whole thing out of it, with only 4 long bolts from my collection.

Chris and Ellie came to drive the rest of Houdinis' team mates back home across the fields this morning .. and collect #2 & #3 off the lawn ...... defiant lil' bar stewards they were too .. drove 'em up onto the drive where the open gate that'd re-unite 'em with their mates was waiting ... along with Ellie and her 6 year old ....... and despite our best efforts, went tearing past us all and away ... eventually cornered one and got her back into the field, but t'other was a right performance ... 30 minutes later Ellie is on the phone to Chris ... she was sat on it down on Billy no mates front drive .. come and help

having wrestled the damned thing onto the quad .... it was unceremoniously brought back to a gate ..

and slung into the field ....... where it shot off in the wrong direction and had to be pursued yet again

Loaded the kids back on and off they went with a couple of hundred sheep in front of 'em

been 'storing' these damned things since Vicki closed her dress shop .... some time ago now ...

manikin stands her dad had knocked together for her ..... never gonna be used again, as far as I could see so they were getting flat packed ... having removed all the screws I found they were all glued as well .... so out came the saw, set the fence to take 22 mm off and proceeded round the perimeters ......

after a conversation with Josh, re. a use for a pile of MDF boards, for his tranny camper conversion, they all went into storage for his next visit ... I hope he brings his van next time ..... getting quite a collection of stuff that'd be better off living in Plymouth than taking up space here

now to sort out when

Unfortunately you literally have a job to give away old pianos. They are a pig to move and have often developed imperfections over the years that can't be tuned out. That combined with very low demand you might as well smash it up and take it to the tip.

aye I know Gra .... had to do just that to my Mother's very old Challen and Challen .... was her grand mother's ... weighed a bloody ton .... couldn't give it away ..... that one is Pam's granny's .... I play a little and so does Pam, but have a full size keyboard for the odd times we feel like knocking out a tune. Been stuck in there long enough now .... either Josh's turn to inherit it, or it's gonna have to meet the wood shed .
They take some breaking up by hand .... this un'd have to be introduced to the 'Drema

been finishing off the major sort out in't boxes today ... peeing down outside !!
found the results of a very industrious mouse in me 'stores' box ...

that's a 500mm broom head !!

re-located me S50 hitch, along with a load of other stuff that'd just got 'parked' where-ever I could find space as it 'landed'

and it's 70mm boss set, I acquired for it

then found yet more mouse activity !!!!!!

must've taken him months to stash that lot !

looking a lot tidier and organised now .....

and accessible .....
t'other one now also has some serious floor space available for me next acquisition

think I found me (almost) perfect lathe last week ... now to get it sorted

came in about half six to find me post on the table (Pam's keep fit night, so late tea on a wed.s) ...

looks like there might be some cheap S type hitches floating about soon ... save me making all the bits for me Druidspec. one, for under me VA-r ..... if I wait long enough

Looks to me like that boy of yours has been slacking. Too much time riding around on the mower or sleeping in the Drema cab and not enough doing his job properly.

No conscientious moggy would allow such mouse activity on his patch. Do you need to install a cat flap in yon box so he can get 24/7 access to his work?

And therein lies the problem I'd say @Rob65 .... lack of access ..... was pretty sure I'd got one in there ... but at a much higher level - like head height, in a cardboard box .. can see the signs in the far end and hear him occasionally

I'm just grateful that he'd not developed a taste for round slings .. found some of that lot in amongst some 5 and 8 tonners, on a shelf ... then I would've been pissed off

been to Newport this morning, to St Joseph's hospital ... for Pam this time, for a change .... has a large mole type thing on the side of her face, by her ear, which she caught with a comb a few weeks back and has been giving her serious jip since .. GP referred her to a skin specialist ... appointment in several months, ..... so rang St Josephs and paid for a private consultation ... in less than two weeks ... gonna get sorted in the next couple of weeks, before the end of the month ... sorted ....

forgot to say earlier ... have had to chase these people up the last couple of days ..... consultant's PA has been great ... apparently some one's ****ed up with the admin. and Pam's appointment paperwork hasn't gone out ..... should be seen and dealt with, next week .... she's been stressing in some order ..... and I've been getting it in the neck ... for weeks!!

Hopefully put an end to all that soon

Too true a neighbour died few years ago with about 3 pianos she was world class. Upstairs one had to have window out and spider crane! Sure that didn't happen when it went in 50 yr ago

The local scout troop up here gather them until they have enough to have a competition. They spit into teams and have to smash the piano into pieces and the winners are the first team
to pass the entire thing through a toilet seat.
