I've realised my van shares the same battery as Benford should have, it's also a newish high amp one so i'll put it on and see what happens. The one on now is a 60ah which is maybe a bit small even if it was at 100%, the smart charger takes it to 90% then does no more.

Recondition the gearbox, then likely shove a battery on it and move it on for £1500..... Any running 4wd dumper with electric start will sell at that.
Times are about to become very very hard..... I can move it on and get wages for a few weeks with about £200 worth of bits, I've this and a Thwaites 6000 to get back home.

What do you mean by that? Just a general feeling? The building trade is busier than ever, but a lot of other things are not looking good. The building trade is the first and worst to get hit if we go into recession though I know that.

It will, there will be alot nicer gear for nicer money, but the base value for a working electric start dumper won't change.
Same with all plant. Tidy new stuff drops in value, but old s**t has a base price it's unlikely to drop below. Plus there is the export market which will thrive if the pound drops

The base value for a working dumper has shot up over Covid. It can still go back down IMO.
Let's revisit in a years time, it will be interesting either way.

I was selling them long before Covid.... In fact I've not bothered the past 3 years as other things going on.
Atm working dumpers with electric start are sat at about £2000 -£2500 if they are a Benford or Thwaites and look pretty. Other makes sit at a lower price.

Maiden voyage today, went down the fields to drop off some stone for the land drainage.
Got stuck in the mud. I thought it would have had permanent or proper 4wd, but it doesn't, it's on girly open diffs so goes 2wd when challenged.
Left it there and walked home, cracked open some homemade cider and swore at people on the internet for a while.
