Another smartphone bites the dust

I had a s61 for three weeks and got a tiny bit of weld splatter on the screen and that cracked it top to bottom 😩 fair play got it repaired but couldn’t get my head around the system of an android phone (had iPhones for years) so gave it to my brother and went back to apple🤔
I can't get on with apple, had the original 3g and once was enough for me. To be fair if you have a MacBook or what ever their pcs are called and your in that ecosystem it probably makes sense

I dont get as mucky as you guys now, but I've lost track of how many times my wallet case has saved my phones the last seven years or so.
The amount of times ive dropped it, or the wife's thrown it at me, or ive thrown it after a phone call with the wife towards a wall.

As long as you get a nice magnetic latch they are quite good at closing mid flight.

Just make sure you also use a screen protector.

On another note, I dropped my full coffee cup about 9m off a roof the other day, hit a scaffold tube laying on the floor and bounced,
Gained a split and the lid cap fell off, but it held the contents intact and I could enjoy my tea after.
Didn't like it beforehand but I'm fond of it after that.

If your wife is throwing your phone at you then definitely do not get a Cat61. She'll be done for GBH

or maybe...... :devilish:

What's everyone using for a rugged smartphone nowadays? My current CAT S61 has battery issues by after 2.5 years of bliss. I dunno if I'm going for the CAT S62pro of possibly the Motorola defy or Nokia x20? What else

I'm kind of in the same boat my s61 has had some battery issues. I did a factory reset and that sorted it but have been debating changing for a while
My s61 has been excellent, I've had it in the sea, it's been dropped a few times, washed under the sink a handful of times, the camera isn't great but it's been a good phone.
Not sure which way to go did see the ulefone armour phones get good reviews but as their a Chinese import not sure they are official android but they do a 5g version but no flir

my 6310 has been in my pocket for several years - 5 maybe 6 .... occasionally has its moments and doesn't always ring audibly - turn off and back on to sort that, but otherwise has been a good phone, like the galaxy S3 before it ... could do with a new battery 'praps .. down to 3 days these days - used to be 7-10 depending on usage ... has had it's fair share of drops and tish

Yet another fancy smartphone has bit the dust today  , completely fed up with spending money on fancy fragile flagship phones knacker at least 1 a year so going to try find something a bit more robust - dont want to spend another 500 quid though - anyone had any joy with something rugged that can stand up to our kind of environment ?

Ulefone Armor 6E looked decent ???

Cheers
i have a Runbo x6 ran over it with my Freelander and it is waterproof and can be used as a uhf tranceiver

Funny you should say this, my old phone died this week, I`ve have just unboxed and put on charge a nokia xr20.
First impression, seems solid (you know how some phones seem to flex), a slight rubbery feel to the edges. and seem quite grippy on the back. I was expecting the buttons to be sealed for the IP68 rating, must be sealed internally
When its charged I`ll put the sim`s (I`ve had a dual sim again) in and have a play, I`m not a heavy phone user, calls, text, photos, emails and a bit of news/weather, but let you know how I get on.

Watching this thread with interest, s10+ now has a crack in the screen after dropping it, not ideal with wet weather on the way. Has been good for 2 years but getting a bit slow now and a replacement screen is almost £300, not really worth it. I just want something indestructible, is that too much to ask?

Part of me thinks I should just get a 3210...😂

Yep, I think the short list goes like this:
CAT S62PRO
Nokia XR20
Motorola defy (new one)
Hang off until December for the S63
I dunno if I can wait though as I miss my phone when it dies
