A day in the life of Tilty Shaun

With the schools closed we are both juggling working and entertaining our very soon to be 7year old. My older daughter texted me today asking “what does Lara want for her birthday?”. My response of “the pool at 20degrees!” Was deemed as not helpful.
Well with the Solar panels and heat pump....someone’s birthday present came a few days early......View attachment 13298View attachment 13299View attachment 13300View attachment 13299View attachment 13300
Superb 👍🏻
can you let me know the details of the heat pump please 🤓
We have an old pool in a polytunnel and 4kw of PV on the roof. So time to give the pool a boost 🤪

Heat Pump came from Splash and Relax last October, think it is 8kw and was around £2300. Didn’t really do any good when we got it but this week with air temps at 21degrees the last few days it has boosted the solar panel energy and hit the pool up to 25.5 degrees. We also have 4kw of PV so hopefully not hitting us too hard on the meter!!
The solar panels have been great, but the difference is when I got in the pool this evening, with no solar and just the heat pump, you can feel the incoming water is warmer.
I would be happy to add a few more solar panels but the wife is not so keen!!

Here’s our old pool in use last year
Will fix a few holes in the liner over the next few days and make it last a bit longer 😎

My daughter thinks thinks she is a mermaid. We put the pool in to encourage her as she has loved being in water from birth. Well apart from being under a shower!

How are you controlling the tilty on your KX71 Shaun ?

I recently bought a v tidy 2011 KX71-3 with 3400 hrs (I knew where it had been all its life and that it had been looked after pretty well ) its nice and tight and for its age I think its a great machine once you shimmy in through the door :) might be worth investing in a tilty for  esp if its not too expensive and if it can be moved onto the next 3t without too much hassle.

I took up the Engcon offer 2 years ago at 6k for tilty and 3 buckets.
They changed my joysticks which have buttons for the tilt and rotate function and you press the foot pedal to alter the speed of hydraulic flow. I would like to say, for the money, I liked it......but that wouldn’t be true!! I LOVE IT!! @Engcon UK

Cheers - so its plummed off your dual flow hammer line - can it share the oil and tilt and rotate at the same time ? and potentially that unit would be plug and play onto a hi spec machine with 2 x prop rollers and leave your old joysticks behind or would that need to be a 4 hose unit ?

Runs off the twin service. It will tilt and rotate at the same time. As for plug and play on a hi spec.....that is above my pay grade! I will take some pics tomorrow

sadly no .... Shaun's control is two cetop 3 two way valves controlling the prop flow from his pedal feed ...
the cetops direct the flow to either/or/and tilt & rotate... in either direction separately or simultaneously ...
the speed at which they operate is controlled by his foot ...
down side is you cannot vary the speed between operations - i.e. fast rotate and slow tilt or any combination ... in reality if you are rotating and engage tilt whilst doing so, rotate will slow as the tilt takes flow ...
you can either increase flow with the trotter or leave it ... letting go of tilt will then increase rotate, back to where it was or increase tilt speed if rotate is dis-engaged.
trick with the pedal and button set up is to always select a function with the relevant button, before engaging the hoof, other wise you load/dead end the prop circuit AND the function comes in with a bang if you engage hoof before the button ... you get used to it ... it's how I built mine
for a two roller set up it could probably be re-plumbed for 4 pipes, but for full house DC2 control, you'd need to have prop solenoids in the unit an' a whole lot more techtrickery

thinking some more on this ... as there's no hyd hitch option or Aux outputs on this size .... ('least I don't think there was??) .... it would not take a lot of doing to change over a pedal and buttons unit to 4 piper at all Kev ... certainly a DIY job if you're up to it TBH .... with a bit of thought it could even be made interchangeable between twin aux rollers/4 piper and pedal & buttons with a little spanner work on the change over ;)

everyone with the fancy set ups scoffs at the 'old skool' pedal/buttons, but it gives you virtually all you're looking for in the tilt/rotate stakes on a low budget ... and it's where it all started virtually .... mine has Aux and hyd hitch under and cost me circa 1800 quid to build ... mostly on hyds - plumbing, controls and valves, etc. ....... an' a lot of time ... mostly head scratching :LOL:

Swamp city has been a long slog in the early days with the weather but know we are almost done.

Not everyone Druid. I was and still am a fan of the basic setup, and it was very usable when myself and Shovelhands tried it (apart from the U20 it was bolted to!) But the full control system gives other advantages that I wanted for my business - albeit with a cost.
