the price of parts used to be a good reason ...... not sure what the score is now?
More expensive than landrover defender, but you don't need them as often so balances out!
I think parts are a bit dear... especially if the fuel pump fails. Regular fuel filter change is therfore very important, as is checking the fuel filler pipes for corrosion as contaminated fuel is the cause of pump failure.
There was another issue reported early on where a timing chain guide wearing out resulted in the timing chain breaking. I think this has been resolved on newer models.
Other than a wheel bearing, a couple of starter motors and an electric motor that powers an accumulator in the braking system I've (touch wood) had over 50,000 trouble free miles, and that's regularly towing 2.7T up and down hills.
I've been very happy with it, but I don't have much to compare it with, so it might be complete crap and I just don't realise!
