I know the op wasnt asking about 7.5t wagons and sure they have their hassles but having run Nissan navara/izuzu trooper/defenders with plant trailers for many years I went 7.5t wagon last november and wouldnt enjoy having to go back to a pickup/trailer setup.
I fully agree mate. Lorry was the best move I made!

Nope. most are sat at 11t gross plated :( only up to 12 in a full draw bar configuration.

Most Merc 817's where plated to 12t from memory tho
My Iveco was plated to 12 Rory .... pretty sure most were in the 90s

We had a D Reg 814 6 cyl, sold it as needed welding work and the break over on the back was ridiculously steep. Really wish I’d hung on to it, pulled like a train

Going slightly back to the pick ups, was at the local ford dealership today, having a look around. Turns out Ford and VW are going into a partnership together. VW are stopping taking orders for there Amorak at the end of the month for final delivery’s in May. There then is going to be an 18 month wait while there new pick up gets released. It’s going to be there (VW) technology but with a Ford shell and chais, the Custom range will be the same but released in 2 years time, and the Connect van will become a Caddy but badged Ford.
The reason behind all this is that VW can’t understand how Ford can produce the numbers that they do and out sell everyone by a massive margin.
The SMMT I believe are the people who register all vehicles that get put on the road (Druid?) they are just waiting for the results of March 2020 to get realised, but as you can see Ford are leading by a long shot....the numbers are for what got registered for that month I think?

On a side note, he showed me what looked like one of those shark fin type things that go on the roof of your car, a bit like an ariel, well it’s actually a modem, that can/will track everything about your vehicle. So, for example, if you were to have a crash, and you said you were only doing 50mph, the police can log on and tell you that you were doing 120mph....also goes towards if you were speeding somewhere, it can all get pulled up....told him I was going to keep my van for a bit longer!!

Ive got a 57plate iveco daily 3.5t tipper pulls like a train but drinks a fair bit of diesel in doing so!

Just spent £1500 on it to get it through mot due to neglect on the previous owners behalf

It's not hard to understand, the VW are just far more expensive for every model they make.
Think the new ranger wildtrack is around 31k and the amarok highline is 40k and that difference is bigger when you start adding extras to both

Im hoping it will be good for another year or two now did think about selling it and getting something newer ( cabstar ) but now ill invest the money in some better lighting and giving it abit more love. I wish i had bought a tipper 3 years ago now only had it 6months ago

I have also got the Old Discovery 1 300tdi auto through another MOT. Stripped the rear seats out this afternoon as they where well past there sell by date after the dog had chewed them. Gives me another “van” option that can tow the digger. It has served me well over the years and not ready to retire it just yet! I like the idea of the Rotodama but can’t justify the expense when the Iveco is still the better towing option with the 7000gtw.

No wonder you seem to see Fords everywhere. That is incredible by how much they outsell everyone else.

You’ll be disappointed with a Cabstar after the Iveco (we run both and the Ivecos are much more powerful).

Just found a utter peach. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VOLVO-FL...pNUawJpJZFlcy9TC0vTyb3icyqgxI2XBw-nIqE7xCD9QA

15t, looks to be a narrow edition... same as mine, SWB.... compressor I could take or leave but that Hiab is the dogs bollocks, on Remote which is perfect  Just a pity she's a 180... be gutless as f**k on the hills around here.... I reckon she will make over 5k which rules me out unfortunately.... BUT if the lorry itself ends up for sale which is a distinct possibility she'd be perfect for spares.
