They want to know what you have again, how you acquired it and paid for it

I mean at the top end of the spectrum
Where it's done on rigid and arctic
C should be 32t and the next license unlimited
C is basically 32T as its limited by C&U not the licence.

The C licence can be any weight if you have the right extras.

CE is again limited by C&U to 44T but again with the right extras its unlimited

Youve missed the point.
The c license isn't restricted to 32t atall there are plenty of vehicles on the road over 32t that require c license. 32t is only general haulage limit
The overall weight of the lorry has more bearing on its handling than physical size
Why do you need an extra license to drive a 12t with an ifor on the back. When has better road manners than a 32t tipper
If it was one license up to combined weight of say 26 or 32t then the next license could be unlimited.

Yes correct the C is not a licence limit to 32t just as I said its a C&U restriction.

Ah i see where you are going. Licence weight limit based on GTW so with or without trailer.

That would be ok IF they assessed your ability to reverse a vehicle with & without trailer on your one test.

Basically just what they are doing with the straight to CE route. But only one reverse with trailer.

Yeah but I still think there should still be intermediate tests rather than just scrapping them like the current plan
They just need to be readjusted to deal with the change of vehicles in comparison to when the tests where introduced

oh yes ....
the truck is most defo a C
if was behind a 7.5 it'd be illegal as that's well over 3.5t and on over-run brakes, so illegal anyway, as it's above the weight for over runs regardless of what's towing it

U27-4 = 2590kg
3 = buckets approx 80kg
= 2670kg
Ifor triaxle plant trailer = 890kg

= 3560kg not too bad then

think you're being conservative with the buckets .... plus a hitch ... but closer to the 3.5t than I thought TBH .... but still illegal  on all counts - over weight and OVER 3.5 on over-runs ... "you're nicked my son" ....... the over loading is the least of the issues ... breach of C&U's a bigger headache .... and a class C driver should know better ("ignorance is no defence in the eyes of the law") .. a LOT better

They have weigh bridged it and it’s all fine not massively over so within realm of potentially being under as well

2 axle trailer or buckets in wagon no problem

Try 80kg per bucket mate! You'd be a bit closer.

My 1.7t grader is 70kgs, so the 2.8t must be closer to 90kg if not more

I think this is the very definition of wishful thinking! :ROFLMAO:

Throw the buckets and the digger in the lorry, problem solved

The original issue was whether the trailer as photographed was legal- not a chance.

absolute border line with the bare machine, on 900kgs of trailer ......
in the pic, way over
and if it's over it's illegal, on several counts
pity 'cos it looks a tidy set up ... bit lighter machine required and it'd be

you can have a lot more than 3500kg behind a C1.

Yes you need active brakes but then any trailer over 3500kg needs them.

exactly ... over run brakes are 3500kg max.

minus 150kg nose weight = under 3500kg :)
nope ... trailer as an independent entity ... would be uncoupled on a weighbridge

If stopped you are weighed as is not uncoupled.
Or Artic's would need to be uncoupled to be weighed.
The nose weight is an applied load to the vehicle other wise it would get counted twice.
Think about mini BE artic's.
The trailer is plated to 3500kg but due to the 1000kg applied load to the vehicle can actually weigh around 4500kg uncoupled.
