Productive days tidying รฟesterday, screwed my auction pigeon holes in place and sorted all the knackered boxes, pocket dumps, half packs and bags of fixings, then did a bit on the autojumble/90 project piles๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘Œ Scrap bins got a bit of weight in it now ๐Ÿ˜†
One of those jobs that you either love or hate, I could do it all day (Not me in the picture)๐Ÿ˜† ๐Ÿคฃ (

Today's excitement ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
Sump on the defender- rusted through, according to the forums they were needing doing at 3 years old! Kit of sump, sealant, oil and filter was under 80 quid delivered, gave it 3 coats of paint last week so hopefully it'll last 4 years ๐Ÿ˜†
Filthy fiddle of a job, would be easy with it up in the air though.
Then I did the front pads on the D4, service report m said they were down to1/3rd, 2000miles ago- think they had a bit more than that but I had them in stock and I'd got started so... ๐Ÿ‘
Worst bit of that job is the bloody alloy nuts that swell up so the socket doesn't fit and I failed to find a 23mm ๐Ÿ˜ซ
The more i use the 1/2 inch milwaukee the more I like it ๐Ÿ˜†

Yeah the land rover nuts are shite, I let the tyre place have the joy or removing them on my d4 I then swapped them all for a new set of painted steel nuts...probably don't look as good but deffo won't swell up again.

Woke the freelander from its 5 month hibernation (5 minutes with jump leads on and away it went) and moved it from the yard to the barn. Drove really well, need to get it up on ramps and give the underside a proper inspection, see how bad it is ๐Ÿ˜ซ
Really wish I hadn't changed the d4 pads yesterday- took it to look at a job about 20 minutes away, came back and thought- bloody hell that front left smells hot. Laser thermometer confirmed it was twice the temperature of the right.
Took the wheel off, caliper was stuck. Worked it back and forth with a clamp, was getting somewhere, gave it one more go and a seal blew ๐Ÿ˜‘ ๐Ÿ˜’
Ordered a new pair, not particularly expensive but I could do without it ๐Ÿ˜…

Right faff today, trying to move the d4 into the shed to do the brakes- didn't want to start due to a mixture of low battery and low brake fluid ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„
Eventually got it starting and in the shed, ready for tomorrow evening maybe.
Wanted to something else for a few minutes so stuck a set of jump leads direct to the starter motor of the Honda engined countax I acquired a couple of weeks ago, turns over fine ๐Ÿ‘
Dash is flashing with a low fuel warning-correctly, but there's nothing from the key, no clicking starter etc, so needs some investigating. But good to know it turns over at least

I had my dash go south several years ago and had to wire it out ... Fk knows why a mower needs a PCB in the dash .. was basically the same - dead at the key and died in use  ...
can't recall exactly how/what I did to it altogether, but has never let me down since ... pretty sure most of the stuff the PCB controls, aside from charge is all the lock outs, so you may well have a lock out killing the key - seat, blade drive engagement, travel/neutral, brake pedal must be down to start.
best thing i did was link the seat cut out ... slightest wriggle and it'd wanna stop

Well this has been a right bloody saga- got the calipers changed and bleed up OK, went to test run it, showing zero miles range and misfiring, but very consistently about every 8 seconds๐Ÿ˜ณ
Stuck 25 litres in it, no change!
Turned it on and off a few times, no change
Took it for a run, no change
Took the battery off for 10 minutes, nope
Borrowed a diagnostic computer, nope

Phoned the garage, booked it in- for the 22nd of December, next available slot!!

Had a brainwave this morning- I'd taken the fuse out of the electric handbrake (why are they a thing anyway!!) when I was having trouble starting in and I'd had to put it in neutral to drag it a few yards.
In my searching for help online I'd read something vaguely linking parking brake faults symptoms I was having.
Fuse back in and away we go, all back to normal ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
Bloody glad I remembered the fuse, really don't need it out of action another 2 weeks then going to the garage 3 days before Christmas!! ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Next up, the freelander is up on ramps to decide its fate...๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿคž

it's on ramps, and now it's on marketplace ๐Ÿ˜ข๐Ÿ˜ฌ
Not only has the subframe rotted quite spectacularly, the body has some chunky holes and soft patches.
Could possibly be saved but not by me.
At 180k and 17 years old it's not done bad really, and I've had a lot of fun driving it.
I may well have another in the near future, but I'll be looking under it carefully first!

Big sort out today ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
Never had this lot together before, and they certainly aren't staying together, or even in the same postcode ๐Ÿคฌ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿคฃ Think the only bits not there are a makita chainsaw and sds drill, m18 pole saw and the m12 stick pump. Oh and the makita 36v fridge/freezer- great bit of kit for camping if you have enough batteries ๐Ÿ˜†
Last 2 photos are the dead tool and battery piles! ๐Ÿ˜ญ Might try 'jump starting ' the batteries but the tools are of to the auction, should get at least a quid ๐Ÿคฃ
Day to day now I'm all milwaukee, didn't see that happening but every time I've needed something the last 18 months milwaukee seems to have been the answer ๐Ÿคท For the first time in my adult life I don't actually have a working makita combi drill ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Auction topper off to a new home. Lost 30 quid on it but I'm still well up over the year, can't win them all ๐Ÿ˜†
Lot of stuff in front of it so used the loader over the fence instead of the forklift๐Ÿ‘Œ chains on the front and a pull winch on the back, nice and flat ๐Ÿ‘

Bit of a pottering round the shed day-
Set of crocodile clips on my fuel tank and stuck it back on the shelf, that just needs a lid buying and it's ready to go ๐Ÿ‘
Pulled the roll bar and mud flap brackets off the dumper and gave them a coat of satin black then started scraping concrete off of it ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
Spent about an hour on that but it's made a difference. Plan to try and keep this one looking good and sound generally, don't ever want to have to 'upgrade' to a newer one with a load of unnecessary electrics and a big price tag ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ˜†
Didn't have any timber to do the greedy boards unfortunately, otherwise I'd have done that instead

take the panel off below the dash/steering column and give it a damned good clean/blast out ... crud tends to gather there and rot the bottom of the turret - don't ask how I know
