Another session of shed tidying πŸ˜†πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ
After Sundays slightly frustrating session I decided I needed a bit of a change round in the shed.
So tool box got a new home, ladders a new place, 2nd bench moved out -couldn't even remember if it had a vice on it, so it clearly wasn't in the right place! Put it straight to work outside without thinking about it, so it's definitely better out thereπŸ‘
Had a bit of a move around outside too, trying to get things off the grass and onto the planings so I can use the fork lift more rather than having to get the loader out.
Did a bit of drilling, nice big swarf coming off a fresh bit, then did a bit of hefty rust removal on the topper.
Good afternoon, got a lot of things at a stage where I can move on with them πŸ‘πŸ‘

Nice one
Love having a potter about in the garage...then she comes along and says...what have you done all afternoon....it's still full of crap. Women. Will they ever understand?

No, they won't πŸ˜†
It's amazing how long you can spend doing stuff that looks like you've done nothing! Mentioned it a few pages back, most of a day working on my mobile shed- doubling/trippleing up fixings, trimming ends, cutting posts to height, gate furniture etc, looked like I'd done nothing. Pile of flat batteries and used cutting discs tell a different story...
Today's tidying was definitely spurred on by Sundays activities. Just too frustrating not being able to get at what you want and put it where you want it. Again, looks like I've achieved very little to the outsider, but the extra couple of feet created makes a big difference πŸ‘πŸ˜€

Bugger! Freelander failed a pre mot inspection on a rotten subframe 😒
Probably repairable, need to get under and have a look for myself.
Been a bloody good car for the last 7 months and I always enjoy driving it, but I'm not sure what I'll do πŸ€”

More cheerfully I had a great night away on Thursday. Working in Northamptonshire for 2 days, definitely in driving distance but I thought I'd have a look for a cheap hotel. Found a pub with a few rooms, very nice, Β£65, half the price of travelodge. Perfect weather for a wander along the towpath before dinner.
Great pizza in the pub, couple of pints of Ghost Ship, then the people on the table next to me ordered Irish coffees, haven't had one of them for years so thought sod it, I'm having one of those πŸ˜€ bloody good it was tooπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘Œ

Looked a good setup to my untrained eye πŸ‘

Probably a days work, and they're available new or used and apparently one from early Evoques is virtually a straight fit, but a bit of an upgrade.
Just not sure I want to commit to the car that much πŸ€” I reckon if I sold it now I could get half what I paid, for 10k of driving πŸ€”
Fixing it is probably the 'sensible' option as its a great halfway house between a car and big 4x4 (disco, defender etc) so is relatively cheap to run but can do most of what the more expensive stuff can.
Trouble is I've got a constant nagging desire for a defender as a daily driver again πŸ˜†πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

Not quite sure where June has gone!
2 of my favourite events, Whitwell Steam fair last weekend, local, and West's Wood Fair down in Sussex this weekend πŸ˜€ πŸ‘
Between us we took 5 tractors, the Ransomes and a non running ride on, which became a fully working ride on with a bit of tinkering πŸ‘πŸ‘ So we had a play with the Austins gantry crane (last pic) and it became one less thing in my shedπŸ˜€
Great weekend but it's a lot of shifting stuff to take ! Good news is the Ransomes and MF203 fit perfectly together on the 14ft ifor πŸ‘πŸ‘
Seems like 3 weeks ago though, not 1
Headed down to the Wood Fair on Friday afternoon. Lovely drive once you're past Guildford but the M25 is an utter joke- 2 hrs each way for 50 or so miles🀬🀬 can't even blame it on the notorious junction 10 Road works as they were 'ok' .
Hardly any signal on the site, which was quite refreshing to be honest, but did mean I hardly took any pictures as I left my phone in the truck.
Great atmosphere-always seems to me run more so everyone has a good time than for profit, hope they make one though, well deserved πŸ‘ πŸ‘
Plenty of cider- probably too much on Friday πŸ˜† Bit less yesterday, called it a day at midnight, apparently the band were still going near 1am, cider bar till 2am πŸ˜† πŸ‘
Couldn't resist the pillar drill on a tool stall, not massive but certainly bigger than my current one, and way sturdier. Β£85, not sure if that's a bargain, reasonable or over priced- no signal to check market place πŸ˜† 😜 🀣 but when you take into account that its taken me zero time to collect, I'm happy enough πŸ˜‰
Between us we bought a few knives and bits off a guy selling a few tools and carvings he'd done, had quite a good chat about things, picked up the tiny cup he'd carved to admire it and he said 'you can have that' πŸ‘πŸ‘ Bit of sanding and sealing, new shot glass πŸ˜†
Bought myself another chunk of purple heart Wood, even though it must be a year since I did any non practical Wood working πŸ˜’πŸ™„πŸ˜†

Today's Why The Bloody Hell Did I Buy That? πŸ˜†
75 quid and local, not exactly breaking the bank.
There's something about tinkering with a ride on, especially one that's been sat in a shed for 20 years. Bypass this, direct feed the other and see what happens, ideally with a beer and a couple of mates πŸ‘πŸ‘

Yeah, Facebook marketplace πŸ‘
The one in these pictures was Β£65 at the Newbury Auto jumble, even saw it running- bypassing all the electrics. A couple of hours fiddling had it running and cutting with no parts, bargainπŸ‘πŸ‘

Might be worth asking local mower dealers if they have anything suitable (cheap!) in the part x/near scrap pile, I had an old Atco with no deck from our local place when I was a kidπŸ‘

Seem to have been avoiding the heat today by spending money πŸ˜† 🀣
Went out first thing and stuck a couple of extra sleepers on the bridge, just didn't like it with a gap in the middle. Takes a d4 commercial, unlike the Albert Bridge in London- missed the 3ton gvw sign, another 80 quid to the bloody mayor πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈπŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈπŸ€¬πŸ€£πŸ€£
Did a few errands, including picking up a new milwaukee framing nailer- bloody hell does it drive 90mm nails!
Got back to the yard, sold the log splitter I bought at Newbury Auto jumble, decent profit for no work, and I kept the new looking top link πŸ‘ Middle aged couple came and picked it up in a nissan leaf of all things πŸ˜€ πŸ˜† but they came when they said they would, with the agreed amount, so who cares πŸ‘
Went inside, browse on Facebook- roof tent of the type I wanted came up, local, good price, log splitter money in my pocket- I'm on my way πŸ˜† 🀣
By pure chance it turned out to be on the farm where a mate keeps his 6 wheeled Austin (with the mower hanging off the back in the last post ), it's a small world sometimes 😯
See all sorts of 'contraptions' on Facebook for lifting rooftents on and off, guy lifted it on with a telehandler, I lifted it off with the forklift. Life's just easier when you have machines πŸ‘πŸ‘
