Decided it's a fuel pump - 17
makes sense - the only item missing off the list but it's auxiliary so wtf does that do ????
it's fed by pole 4, via diodes, (and 5) on the ign sw. ? run and crank :rolleyes:

The diodes prevent power being sent back to the ignition switch on the "other" line, but allows the pump to be powered from two different ignition switch positions

still can't fathom where the switch gets its power though :rolleyes::unsure:

Don't stress about it - the wire is just missing from the diagram (it obviously can't work without it!).

Might be to accomodate a fuel pump but there isn’t one on it as far as I can see
need to see the diagram for your new ign sw. Vin - and the sequence dia. please

like this - it's a 5 pole, but may not be the same operational sequence for the pins

It’s stilI using original ignition at the moment. I got a 5 pin ignition from dingbro but the terminals were slightly different so I decided not to use it and I ordered one from Ravenhill the ford new Holland dealer . It won’t be in til tomorrow though but it is the correct one for the machine as the 2 options are 5 pin with thermostart and 4 pin without thermostart . I think it’s terminal 4 on the ignition that energises the thermostart . It’s not working but I intend to fix it so need the wiring to be correct for it .
The wiring diagram does look the same as the original ignition .

Can we use the current ignition set up if we get an alternator that doesn’t need the battery temp sensor ?
Would I need to make any changes to the current wiring ?

can't see an issue with that - just insulate the wire going to the alternator's terminal currently as it'll be live at times

yeh, but what else is missing ???? and where does the feed originate from ????

Do you think I need to sort wiring first before adding new alternator ?

Just the issue that your highlighting with the wire that is live all the time buddy . If we can leave that as it is will the wiring as it is just now work with a standard alternator ? If so what alternator do I order ?

Lucas alternator - just get the hand right

although they should be swappable left/right, but requires undoing the main body bolts and rotating the front plate
What’s the difference between that mini alternator and the ACR 17 /19 you mentioned earlier ?
