To be fair I did message bmc this week but it can’t be done my hitch will open up to 160mm but unfortunately it’s a no go
You sure about that? What are your pin centres, boss width and diameter?

It’s an approved hydraulics one and one always found them useless to be fair , love the grab as it literally leaves nothing , was just after something more compact but then that means more £££
All three of my grabs came from them, but I always tell them to leave the headstock to me!

drill a 17mm hole dead centre, and put a bolt with a nyloc on it barely nipped, swap the hex bolts for SHCS and it'd make life a lot easier with a ratchet and 14mm hex ... bolts out, spin, bolts back in ;)
His problem will be that the bolts are directly under the pins. I'd take your idea and see if a decent ball ended allen socket would do the trick.

or a short 14mm allen/hex tail in a 14mm ratchet ring spanner ;) .. ring wouldn't be any bigger than the SHCS head :rolleyes:

I'd just be making a big plate with a big central bolt, then a simple drop in locking pin for 90' locking..... Why be complicated
it'd work, but become pretty rattly, fairly rapidly, on just a big bolt ... needs a disc and clamp plate to rotate about really ... quite do-able, with little effort.
Dala do a range of mechanical swivel pick ups ... got some good pix, but struggling to find 'em here on steam this morning :(

The amount of use @Hg2702 gives his gear is comparable to you so realistically it will rust out before it wears out 🤣

I did think I’ll bin off the m16 bolts go down to m14 bolts that’ll go right through and stick a nut on the bottom. But it’s not the right thing really

That would be a good compromise- plenty enough clamp force for that little grab. Four M16 bolts is all that holds my rotator and larger grab to the 2.8t, so going down to M14 would be fine for your application.

I can take 120mm to 160mm centres 30mm pins and 110mm width bmc seemed to think it couldn’t be done
I can't see any reason it couldn't be done, but you would have to have a much bigger headstock plate than you currently have. It's literally just a square plate with the bolt square for the grab in the centre, and then four bits of angle drilled to fit the 30mm bar.

I don't think the 2 way headstock works without a bigger difference between pin centres and hitch width, the holes in the angle for the pins going either way would hit each other.

At least then it’s just a socket and spanner job couple of minutes maximum , rather than the 15mins quarter turn at a time followed by scraping your skin off your knuckles and a tantrum

4 x M16 bolts holds my Cranab to its mount Doob .... and you've seen what I chuck about with that :giggle::rolleyes:

Are we over complicating the head stock why can't you just weld the bolts in on the hanger bracket and just undo the nuts underneath 🤔

'cos my take is .. they're tapped into the grab plate
