Think a rotator would be next save trying to turn the headstock round which is a bloody nightmare

As you already have the circuit it would be rude not too...

But.... 1.9t machines handle a grab/rotator OK, but you will always be at the end of the boom lift, and that's with a short dipper! If yours is long dipper and you aren't doing a serious amount of timber handling, I wouldn't be in a rush to upgrade.

I have the same grab and don't find it hard to turn the headstock.

You would probably be better off having a two way headstock made. You would probably have to drop the pipes off, but save a lot of faffing about to be able to pick it up either way.

To be fair I find it takes a frustrating ten minutes normally minus some skin . There’s no way to get a socket or a spanner on so it’s a 1/4 of a turn at a time job.it’s also quite large on build height so becomes cumbersome. I think I’ve got the short dipper as we looked at tilties one day

Very poor design. Making the plate 10mm wider wouldn’t have hurt.

if that build height is cumbersome then forget a rotator as well!!

Not the best photo but this is what a grab headstock should look like. So you can grab things out the front! Nobody ever wishes they could grab their own boom (but you still can with this design)

It’s an approved hydraulics one and one always found them useless to be fair , love the grab as it literally leaves nothing , was just after something more compact but then that means more £££

Maybe if you changed the bolts for allen bolts it would give a little more room, and get a bit on a ratchet in?

It came with Allen bolts Bloody nuisance as its a nice bit of kit

I have the same problem with mine- but fortunately I never have the need to re oriontate the grab. If I was buying again I'd go for the size up so it could be used with the 2.8t too. But then it'd be too big for the 1.8t perhaps either way I wouldnt want to be swapping the headstock how it's setup with those bolts.

No harm with the grab just the headstock you can’t complain it’ll end up with you one day

ideally would like something more compact as the rotator would add extra build height but enjoy the grabs ability to pick up everything

Don't know if 2 way headstocks are that easy on minis due to pin centres being nearly same as the hitch width. Sure it could be got round with a bit of thought.

To be fair I did message bmc this week but it can’t be done my hitch will open up to 160mm but unfortunately it’s a no go

drill a 17mm hole dead centre, and put a bolt with a nyloc on it barely nipped, swap the hex bolts for SHCS and it'd make life a lot easier with a ratchet and 14mm hex ... bolts out, spin, bolts back in

can you can that again in English, it doesn’t matter what bolts you put in you can get a socket on it due to the pins , there’s not enough room there . If the pins were removable it’d be easy enough. Trouble is you can barely get a spanner on it I’ve had to adapt one
