We seeded all the side of the driveway after it got beaten into some semblance of order from the jungle it was when I bought it ...... took bloody months to grow and reckon the birds had 50% of it .. and sacks of seed ain't cheap :rolleyes:

If you think normal grass seed is expensive then have a look at some of the wildflower conservation mixes.

£2000+ an acre.

Managed to wangle 6 hours away from the business today and go play on the project. Heavy sideways rain this morning but dried up a treat in afternoon. Running a ring beam around the perimeter of my storage container base in order to get every thing level and try and keep rodents out of the bank at the back. Using all the small waste hardcore slabs and lintels I can find to bring up the level a bit before filling with 803. I was going to concrete it , but too tight to pay for 8 cube and then cover it in containers which have perfectly good floors. Hopefully back Thursday to mix a bit of concrete and tidy up.

We’ve done a few rugby pitch builds at our club etc and quadruple seeded them with air seeder etc still sparse apart from rows until a few years of growth. Turf is instant lawn at £3m2 can’t beat it

And most turf now days has plastic in it
I refuse to buy that crap!

I’ll seed sometimes, but it does take a good year to knit together & when I’m selling somewhere it needs to look mint straight away - turf/lawn is generally last thing to go down!

This lot was poking up within days, but I had to absolutely drown it constantly, wouldn’t be a problem this year so far… would have just got the blec stuck……..

what's with your website Doob ..... thought I'd have a look at it and it's just a series of links to other plant sites ... Hijacked?
forgot to renew it. its up again with a hypen in it. That's not even my business, it's just a generic site to capture local 'digger and driver' enquiries.

I really should renew my proper website, it looks like we're still gardeners :ROFLMAO: mr kitchen would be happy to see it.

Do you lads use fibers as well as steel ?
We usually use one or the other but heard it mentioned that people often put the both in now as bibs n braces ... its for a few classic cars @ 12cm thick.

No chairs available.

Polyfillament fibres are only for superficial plastic cracking on the surface they aren’t structural

METAL FIBERS (STRUCTURAL): ADVANTAGES AND USES
These fibers are obtained from drawn steel wires.

They generally have hooks at the ends to improve their anchoring in the concrete.

They are used to improve the mechanical behavior of structural concrete (structural role). Their mechanism of action is similar to that of reinforcements (metal mesh) in ordinary reinforced concrete.

Roles in concrete:

Reduction in cracking:
By their anchoring in the concrete, the metal fibers prevent the propagation of microcracks which may be due to the natural shrinkage of the concrete or to excessive forces exerted on the structure.
Fiber-reinforced concrete: locking of a crack by the fibersLocking of a crack by the fibers.

Increase in ductility:
The presence of metallic fibers with the dosages usually used does not improve the flexural strength of concrete as such. However, after cracks appear, it allows the tensile forces to be resumed in the concrete and thus prevents it from suddenly breaking in a fragile manner. They thus give the concrete a ductile behavior.
