Can't help but think if the French are moaning it's wet then heaven help us!Tapping into a wet spot - big hole fill with rubble and a perfed pipe, nothing technical, more or less dry day and forecast shows dry for next week or 2 .....yipeeee

Oh Bretagne (brittany) in the nw is pretty much as wet as south of england, but the SE of france haven't had hardly any rain to speak of apparently....all a bit extreme.Can't help but think if the French are moaning it's wet then heaven help us!
When you say you have ruled out most of the buildings by listening to pipes do you have acoustic leak detection gear if so how do you rate it I am looking into this. The last leak I repaired was around 2 litres a min which was found by a leak detection specialist with acoustic gear. Admittedly 2 litres a min is going to be a lot easier to find than your leak.Wandering around today trying to find a leak on a nice customers supply. 3 houses and 2 barns and a few historic trough points on a 1/2 mile supply thats over 51 years old (that's when customer moved in). And everything is sopping wet everywhere with surface running water everywhere you look. We are right up on the watershed between Tamar and Torridge. About a wet a part of Devon as you'd like. Only loosing about 40lph so bugger all really but £1000 a year. Managed to rule out most of the buildings by listening to pipes I can find. Need to go back and might be able to dig it up half way along the supply to pop a valve in and try and pin down a location a little more. It runs across 2 roads and 4 properties in its half mile loop so just wacking a new line in isn't an option at this stage. Been hearing about people testing with compressed air when its wet ground. Anyone any experience with this?

Today was first visit. We have done a full install on one of the cottages, and we/I have been servicing the boiler in the Farmhouse for 20 years, other than that we haven't got involved with services, but its a valued customer so keen to get it right. I use a listening stick. I could clearly hear flow at the meter. There is a chamber behind the farmhouse which serves the farm as well. It was silent when listening on the pipe, but if we created a small flow then I could hear it plainly. Not 100% I agree but felt fairly confident that I had ruled out that section. Will go back in a couple weeks, find the pipe near where it starts teeing off for buildings and then I can at least decide which haystack holds the pin. Can do. Will take 16 pits and 16 tracers with my 50m Cobra to get from end to end in the 1/2" Alky. Plus an extra pit for each joint I hit. 75% is on waterlogged farmland (4 different landowners) on ground you can barely walk on without loosing your wellys. Joyful times.Could you stick a traceable cobra up the pipe and mark the route, then re connect and walk route again, obviously won't go up tees 1 way but may help
