Finally got some turf down today, been waiting 3 weeks for a dry spell and even at that it was on the limit!
Turf guys have really struggled to get it off the fields, only had about 600meters in the yard from yesterday! wasn’t the best stuff as a lot was soaked and abit wobbly but gone down flat and will grow like buggery now 😎

Got a few drains in for a future parking area and left it to dry up and moved on to the next job.
Entrance was to sort to get conc truck in later so had the tmk on the 6t under the tilty for the first time, nicked the tilt lines, good enough for the bit we do with it.
Considered hiring in a micro for the barn floor dig but in the end squeezed the wacker in :)
Lovely sunny day ...different job when the weathers on your side.
Some interesting old buggerment in the corner, tried to convince the mrs it was a time machine but she wasnt having it.

At last a nice day and sods law had to be in Brum for 2pm. These tanks have been a pain Wednesday realised they'd not fitted the 1 hose so they sent 1 out, had to drain tank this morning and fit hose 😒

Turfing is up there on the job satisfaction stakes👌
Distant memories as 14 yr old barrowing what seemed like thousands of rolls round into back gardens on new estates in the pouring rain...vowed I never wanted to see another roll😄
Never seen anyone turf anything here yet ...we have been asked by english clients a few times but we just say the french dont do it and put some grass seed down instead :)

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
Grass seed only takes a couple of weeks to be green though dunt it !
We seeded all the side of the driveway after it got beaten into some semblance of order from the jungle it was when I bought it ...... took bloody months to grow and reckon the birds had 50% of it .. and sacks of seed ain't cheap

Is it not just a good indication of the difference in the pace of life between the uk and rural France, nobody has the time to wait for grass seed to grow in the UK, everything has to be instant here, even if it’s more expensive and inferior.?
Oh I dont know ....last time I saw turf was prob yr2000 working on the golf courses in the uk, they need it established fast.
I dont know how it stacks up against seed cost wise etc but certainly gets instant results and doesn't feed the birds, just seems a bit alien nowadays.

We’ve done a few rugby pitch builds at our club etc and quadruple seeded them with air seeder etc still sparse apart from rows until a few years of growth. Turf is instant lawn at £3m2 can’t beat it
Not being a tw@t but why dont they turf them then ?
