Olive or veg?
Couldn’t get a micro in Dave ? That looks like a fair bit of hand digging ! Why do you need to be so deep below floor ?Had asbestos guys in this week to strip roof on barn conversion. got little internal foundation in once they had buggered off, existing wall was taken out along time ago, but we needed to View attachment 76594View attachment 76595View attachment 76596move it over 100mm to carry steel ridge beam so couldn’t go off existing footings which were still there but decent.. so shovel came out
Forecast is shocking so going to cover up part of the old roof with a tarp, can’t do all of it as we need to rebuild the gables and in afew weeks rebuild 2 internal walls and take one out completely so there won’t be anything much left to carry the old structure.. not ideal job this time of year but need to push on to get the new roof on before Xmas ideally!
Olive of course what do you take me for! I wanted the Mediterranean lookOlive or veg?
Could have done, but It’s only 5 m long 1m deep.. had it dug and poured in a morning.Couldn’t get a micro in Dave ? That looks like a fair bit of hand digging ! Why do you need to be so deep below floor ?
Wow , dropping the floor level by 450mm then allowing for the slab and some insulation won’t you be digging below the existing founds ?Could have done, but It’s only 5 m long 1m deep.. had it dug and poured in a morning.
FFL is 450mm below existing concrete! A lot of muck to come out of there! As it stands each room steps up 100mm from left to right…micro will be getting hired![]()
It’s tight!!Wow , dropping the floor level by 450mm then allowing for the slab and some insulation won’t you be digging below the existing founds ?
they look a long way down and'd guess Dave was looking for 'good ground' ... lot looks made up.Wow , dropping the floor level by 450mm then allowing for the slab and some insulation won’t you be digging below the existing founds ?
Ground drops away across the width of the building, one side it’s solid sand to the existing ffl, on the other it’s black slop/crap but thankfully whoever built it hundreds of years ago had a brain and dug it down to solid golden sand! I think it’s a very old ditch line as up in the field it’s a ditch which has been piped up and diverted at somepoint back in the day!they look a long way down and'd guess Dave was looking for 'good ground' ... lot looks made up.
That’s a big undertaking Dave . Difficult to price jobs like that . We are currently involved in a job where an old extended stone house caught fire . The insurance company wanted to save what was left of it and had us dig new founds inside existing stone walls to build a frame to carry new roof but when we looked at the levels we would of needed to underpin all the stone walls . They then decided this wasn’t financially viable so got us to pull it all down and start again with a new build ! We’ve just finished all the down takings . My original costings were a complete waste of time !It’s tight!!
If im right my stone level will end up above top of ext founds , it may be that it has to come up 100mm and we loose 100mm head height up stairs(lift 1st floor up too) thats tomorrow's job to finalise levels etc . Worst case the last room to the right will need underpinning , everything else is fine as existing founds are stepped anyway.
Exactly why I won’t work / price for anyone else anymore, this build is ours so risk is all mine and I’d rather that tbh. Done a fair few now so they don’t really worry me anymore, just do what needs to be done , don’t cut corners and over spec everything and we all sleep happily at nightThat’s a big undertaking Dave . been there and done that so many times .... hours and hours of your life, trying to cover your ar*e, but not be too dear -- time you'll never get backThat’s a big undertaking Dave . After a 240mm bucket for the 6t - dont seem to be able to get one this narrow on s40 for the 6.5t machine.....
Been using an old 240mm on the 3t today and its very worn so the sides come right down to the blade , it makes a really tidy job.
What can you offer @CPS ?
Want it for spring though![]()
I really like my tapered bucket. Its done a few jobs now, and is a lovely shape under the tilty. I've been thinking about having another one maybe slightly wider. 150mm at the bottom is good for land drainage but foul pipe is tight.or picture 2, a nice tapered bucket, like the one @Gunners got a while back. His is 150mm up to 300mm .
