We often have foul and vent in same trench 240mm is about perfect - quite like the taper although we are 9o% of the time shallow with our runs, suppose the taper will help stop material packing in though...
I really like my tapered bucket. Its done a few jobs now, and is a lovely shape under the tilty. I've been thinking about having another one maybe slightly wider. 150mm at the bottom is good for land drainage but foul pipe is tight.
You've not spent up yet !

@CPS I have one of your 300mm nordic trenching buckets and its a nice bucket, what does the taper add if your not going deep ?

After a 240mm bucket for the 6t - dont seem to be able to get one this narrow on s40 for the 6.5t machine.....

Been using an old 240mm on the 3t today and its very worn so the sides come right down to the blade , it makes a really tidy job.

What can you offer @CPS ?

Want it for spring though 😉
which spring ? :unsure::ROFLMAO:

Hmmm not sure whether taper would serve much purpose for our work ....trenches for foul are usually shallow so not much wants to drop back in , and never really need to batter it to clear tilty 🤷‍♂️
If tapered it poss wouldn't want to be too severe,so bucket would need to be quite tall, unless more material could potentially be needed to backfill, for foul we bed a couple of cms depending on going, then pipe followed by +/- 20cm of bedding material and then warning tape before backfill.
Seems like a lot of waffle for a bucket and probably is but some buckets are great and some get left at the yard.

Back in the factory. Different waterjet pit this time and even less room.

Tilty is amazing, means we don’t need to jack the digger up on pallets like we used to and can sit in the only place the digger will fit and get most of it relatively easily.

Just re-handling it into bulk bags and then I’ll weld up the hole in the bottom which is why it was emptied.

The beauty of a taper bucket as @CPS says is that it can be made to suit your job

My tapered bucket is 200 to about 400 I think, I mainly use it in trenches more than 600 deep, as well as saving on shingle it gives you more room to work in the trench and you don’t get your trousers so dirty 🤣

Just to change the subject but on the same thread, what geometry bucket do you use for digging a small hole quite deep, I'm talking 500 square around 1000 deep. I seem to end up with a meter square every time I try to keep it tight.
I have some 203x203 columns to plant and concrete in. I have an auger with 300 diameter but it turns out I'm not that good at putting the hole in the right place.

Pretty difficult to do think I'd 500mm Auger and square up if necessary by hand. Sure there's a few on here with better info
