I'll second what Ollie has said. I got into the old forum quite late but I am aware there were differences of opinion in there and Nick took the view that it was all getting a bit much (all before my time so it counts as hearsay). More recently I think there have been a couple of times where social media have got on top of him and one or two people have hit post before really thinking what they are saying and its effect.
Nick's a good lad (and he has an Engcon
) but he has always tried to be even-handed in his approach to machinery.

He's a Biased Cockwomble, whom slagged me off at a JCB dig day to the JCB Rep without knowing me, or the fact a good friend of mine was stood beside him.... I'm a big fan of saying things to peoples faces.... I also know of a few people whom have had the displeasure of working with him and the feedback is that he is a gobshite with standard ability. I certainly would not entertain him.
The BCEF thing was nothing to do with differences of opinion getting too much, more to do with people being unable to walk away from arguments without being utterly pathetic. Second hand information but to my understanding him and a couple other characters registered on there under rather racist and disgusting names in order to try to derail the forum in it's early days.... There are no doubt a couple on here that actually know the ins and outs but as above... if you can't say something in public without hiding behind a fake account then what is the result
Enough said and after the JCB incident you won't sway my gained opinion. he is not a well though of man in a lot of circles.

We all probably get slagged off and bad mouthed at some point by someone, and it’ll get back to us 2nd, 3rd, 4th hand, so what? It’s not stopping you from working or doing what your doing is it.Be the bigger person just crack on with what you do.

What you have to ask yourself Rory is, if he was as bad as people say he is and disliked etc, why on earth would manufacturers and suppliers, UK and European want him on board, testing and reviewing products for them that they are just about to bring to market?

I was fortunate (inadvertently) to speak to both sides, not about what went on, but about other things and it was very easy to see who the antagonising side was, this was also confirmed when speaking to Julian (I did actually get to speak to him back in the dayI'll second what Ollie has said. , when he showed an f’in interest) when it all got blurted out!.... it is also fare to say that both sides wish it had never happened and were pleased to move on with everything, and what also was mentioned by one of them, that one day they might actually sit down with a pint and clear the air. Olive branches have gone out, from both sides in the past so that’s a start

Firstly, I take people as I find them and Nick has always been courteous and even handed with me, both on a professional and personal level and that's coming up to five years. Secondly, he is not - AFAIK - on this forum and it's therefore a shame that he can't defend himself. I wasn't around when the BCEF started but I did take the time to read a lot of the stuff that you are alluding to (or at least that which wasn't deleted or anonymised) and it was clearly a pretty poisonous place at times. One of my hopes for this forum was and is that we don't allow that to return.
Everyone's allowed an opinion, Rory and you are clearly entitled to express yours, which I respect. I just don't agree with you in this instance.
