Looks like there's been a lot of shite in with the stone you've crushed by the looks of it.

You get lots of fines in sandstone.

You do but looking at the size of the bigger agg produced i wouldn't have thought there would have been enough fines to be an issue.

I was smoothing out this liquid slop today, walker walked straight up and tried to come over it while I’m there in machine as it got calf deep he backed out, literally had to go 30 yds up to follow track when out for a walk why try cut across.

10 mins later woman jogger tried as well had to barrier it off

Monday hose fitter van sank to axles, had to pull it all out. Bin the 60 ton off and start again properly today, ram done drains in, terram 1000, put another 80 tons in but wacked it straight away with big wacker. 20 ton gravel
Coming in morning so that’ll test it but wacker was bouncing like when on concrete so has gone it well.

Shouldn’t have stoned up in rain and melt and only relied on tracking it in, did know that but was trying to get ahead and infact cost me 2 days instead. Will stack first 60 ton up see if it dries out for summer project

It’ll dry if you leave it to stand.

If what you've been wacking is what you've crushed on site its not just fines in it imo will be better for being wacked while dry ish

Well it is, just crushed stone,

Here’s the pile you can see it’s just clean stone and fines, when it’s dry it’s white ish, when wet it’s brown / red same as all the big uns that came out that we crushed.

Now im sure you only crush the hardest bestest granite that’s better than all the local quarries combined but this is Derbyshire gritstone and it’s made a lot of fines that go gluey when wet.

Round here there are pockets of limestone that has a type of soft sandstone passing through it in layers. Sounds like your material is similar. There’s a fine line between just right and too much moisture, and the more you wack or roll it the worse the surface is. Needs good judgement to know when to stop compacting. Do you use that stuff on engineered fill?

Only using it here as we had huge pile of as dug rock and rather than get rid we crushed it.

Normally just buy in lovely hard Derbyshire limestone from the 10 quarries nearby
