Have a read of a book called ‘Chickenhawk’ - it’s a biography of a Huey pilot who served in the Vietnam war and has loads of interesting info about those helicopters (massively over engineered - they could use the rotors to chop small trees down to make landing zones!). Apparently the rotors are so massive in relation to the size of the machine that there is enough rotational energy in them when run at full speed on the ground that the engine can be shut down entirely and the chopper can still lift off! Ace bits of kit.
These guys working above my house just now, started snowing but such a cool sound the low whoop whoop of a Huey
Awesome Giles

If there’s a concrete foundation which looking at rebar looks like there is going to be then theoretically it’ll be fine. Even with wet pour concrete still need to dry pack the last 20mm or somate on a barn underpinning job ... never seen it done with blockwork before ... anyone?????

surprised they left old footing in where it looks like a tin gate ,we use to concrete ours in as that was a lot quicker but you still had to go back and dry pack the last few inches when concrete was set and we could only get to one side not like a empty barnmate on a barn underpinning job ... never seen it done with blockwork before ... anyone?????
re bars Bob ... 'nother pic here ... apparently the GL is getting dropped in some parts and this is how they're 'hiding' it, otherwise he'd have mass poured itsurprised they left old footing in where it looks like a tin gate ,we use to concrete ours in as that was a lot quicker but you still had to go back and dry pack the last few inches when concrete was set and we could only get to one side not like a empty barn
