2 tonner for comparison.
It's a pretty pig... Few tweaks needed when I get time. But for the moment it can take over whilst I transplant a 3 pot into the 2t.... The Petter has seen better days and is gutless

Guarding is a future project along with relocation of a few controls.
But the risks do not exist as there is no one near the belting whilst in operation. No point guarding it until I'm happy with it.

So spend a lot of time, money and effort fitting a proper guard.... then cut it off when it does'nt suit, or bodge some mesh on without any real consideration for it and then wonder why it's caused a accident further down the line.
I always guard things, Our Stothard and Pitt Roller is a prime example. But its simply not worth doing until I've worked out any issues with the setup as it's scratch built.
Crusher is very close to having catwalks added and guarding, BUT one thing that has become evident is that the belts are too long and could benefit from being a good bit shorter to allow more adjustment for wear. Whilst it's not going to affect the guarding design substantially changes like this are why I'm running it up to see what flaws there are before things get finalised.
The conveyor is a different matter entirely and was only brought a few weeks ago with today being the first run up. Bottom line is it needs a Electric Motor rather than the Honda 13hp engine as IMHO it's not suitable nor safe for the application and cannot be stopped quickly in a emergency (I like Line pull E stops for belts! simple and effective right along the length).
I appreciate what your saying, but its the same as a PTO shaft.... All the guarding in the world won't save you from stupidity! best bet is to keep f****ng clear of it when it's in motion! Likewise throwing a bit of mesh over it in a half arsed manner and exclaiming that it's "guarded" is worse than no guard at all in my book! Better to get it tested for half a day and then make something that is properly up to the Job!
