Ours is about 10 years old. A Stovax Stockton 5. I throws out the heat but cos of the clean burn system it's hard to shut it down too much so therefore gets through the wood. I did take an angle grinder to the clean burn system which makes it a little better.
Mine is a stovax just under the size where you needed a vent. Can't remember the model though

Cannot imagine not having a stove. Ours is a 25 year old 12kw.
Goes pretty much 24/7 ATM ...

And yet they are trying to ban them...
That coupled with heat pumps means no electricity and you are absolutely fked in a cold winter...
At least a gas/oil boiler doesn't take much of Genny to fire up again.

Self reliance has gone right out of the window.

Did I mention nuclear plants are being decommissioned and a long cold snap with no wind in the future could be pretty fun coupled with a few carefully targeted pipeline explosions.

Yet they made all the fuss earlier in the year about being prepared for every eventuality. I seem to remember in the same breath saying farming was not important to the uk and should be outsourced

We've got a multifuel Stovax, about 20 odd years old now so 'pre-emissions' guff. Can fill it right up then shut it down completely to slumber overnight so it's still lit in the morning. It's not great though as the glass gets tarred up and goes black and i'm told everything else does too as it doesn't get hot enough.

I've got a 9.5 or 10.5k kW stove that I wanted fitting in our house, I was told it was too much and a 5kw is what I needed.

I like heat and i could knock the back of the fireplace out and have it double sided

To be right you'll need a double sided stove aswell though.

Ours is 5 KW and the room it's in is about 6 x 3.5 meters. Gets too hot so open the door to let the heat go into rest of house.

Saturday morning school run was interrupted by this little event.
IMG_2381.jpeg
this was after reversing out. Didn’t fancy sitting under the cable before taking a pic!! School run was then abandoned. Very few customers out to buy a Xmas tree. Small get together at home to celebrate someone getting older. Has advised son and daughter not to travel up. Turned into an earlier night than planned as after tripping out about 15 times in 10 minutes, the electric finally went off at 9.45!!!
Hopefully it will stay dry as there are still rather a lot of trees left to move on before Xmas!!

polytunnel is starting to show it's age, covering wise .. the one end has rubbed through in places on the framework ... might be time for a new 'skin' after tonight :oops: ... hopefully the base frame'll be heavy enough to keep it in situ though

You can buy PT polythene off the roll easy enough, there are a few optional coatings to choose from too. 'Hot spot' tape as well to insulate the polythene from the metal frame.

I can buy it a new ready made skin for 90 quid ;), from where I got it from originally ... only ever bought it as a 'socially distanced' meet cover, during Covid, when I was locked up for 6 months, with a view to it being useful afterwards. (y)
it's done well (over 4 years and one escape/flight into a field) ... a new cover of the same spec. should do equally well, hopefully.

In PT circles that's terrible, you get well over ten yrs out of the proper stuff and the tape helps it last longer.
If yours is tailored though then a piece of sheet will need a whole different fixing system.

yeh it's a tailored jobbie ... may well put some foam tape over the top of the end frames this next time though, as that's where it taken the most abrasion
