It is. I wish we had had the warning the other week when the wind caused this devastation in our garden .

only the one .... 's had three, 'praps four here - CNBA to go look at the one on it's side and jammed in where it is ;)
just put 8" of water in the pond - pump was struggling - 'll probably be out again by lunchtime at this rate
another 150lbs of weight on the tramp. base - lump of old 'pig iron', out of the bottom of the canal, and a couple of lumps of 50 dia. BDMS from the stock ... doesn't seem to want to move far now :giggle:(y)
given up trying to keep her small trees stationary, in their pots and laid 'em out on the floor -- before they snap off
wind is bitter, but get out of it in a sheltered corner and the air temp is actually quite pleasant

Been out cutting a little domestic hedge this morning, nasty little things at the best of times never mind when it's blowing round in circles! Wouldn't have done it, but I've rearranged it twice already..
Absolutely drenched, very glad to get back in the car.
Then went and finished a little windblown Ash I started on Monday, splitting and stacking in a bit of shelter, with a fire going, that's more like it 👌 Fire looks useless but it was giving off plenty of heat 👌

Had a blackout the last few hours as has many villages round here. Quite enjoyed sitting in the dark with just the wood burner for company. Made me think. A wood burner provides heat, a little light, ability to boil kettle and basic cooking. They can keep all this renewable/clean/imported energy. When s**t hits the fan it's the old school methods that keep things going

remarkably, considering the number of trees down round here, (all over local face book pages - some BIG buggers too), the power has been totally stable - not even a flicker -- makes a change ... usually goes off here, at the drop of a hat :(

Ours is about 10 years old. A Stovax Stockton 5. I throws out the heat but cos of the clean burn system it's hard to shut it down too much so therefore gets through the wood. I did take an angle grinder to the clean burn system which makes it a little better.

Cannot imagine not having a stove. Ours is a 25 year old 12kw.
Goes pretty much 24/7 ATM ...

And yet they are trying to ban them...
That coupled with heat pumps means no electricity and you are absolutely fked in a cold winter...
At least a gas/oil boiler doesn't take much of Genny to fire up again.

Self reliance has gone right out of the window.

Did I mention nuclear plants are being decommissioned and a long cold snap with no wind in the future could be pretty fun coupled with a few carefully targeted pipeline explosions.
