We`d had around a foot when it eased off about dinner time, went out with the plough to clear the road down to the village to try and get the truck out tomorrow morning, put some salt down, but it was starting to freeze just after 3. a bit more ❄️ forecast overnight.

That’s probably more snow that we have had in the last 20 years..accumulated!

Had a random eBay search for chains for my pickup saved and forgot about it...a set popped up in summer . Proper german jobs never used ...slipped a silly offer in and it appears not many folk buy snow chains in UK in summer I snagged em 🤣🤣 daft as I am. Now it'll never snow here again 👌🏼👌🏼
My experience with snow chains was in Austria in a blizzard. It has formed a simple rule for me. If you need snow chains……stay home!!

These are to get me home when all the other suckers are sat out all night last winter in the lakes 🤣

The problem round here though is rarely solvable by extra traction. As all the idiots around you have caused chaos.
Reigate hill a few years ago in the snow had icy patch halfway up. Not very big maybe 20ft long. Qué of cars crawling up the hill nose to tail would hit the ice and grind to a halt, get pushed out and the next one would tailgate them onto the ice ready to be pushed out.
If they left a 20ft gap they could have easily got enough momentum up to cross the ice but no, this went on for hours.

third word is off :p:p
started at 6 as forecast. stopped at 3 - good old Yr.No was bang on as usual ... got circa 35mm on the polytunnel, which is always the best gauge of the white stuff - settles and just sits ...
would've been a lot more if it'd continued as it was at 09.00 with the dry powdery stuff, but turned wet and big by 10 .....
still too much of it for my 'liking' though
'sposed to be nice tomorrow :giggle:

Saturday however looks 'kin horrendous View attachment 66519 never seen that much forecast in one 24 hr period before
