Unfortunately it wouldn't for down the track to my lake, I'm scraping the paint off my Freelander going up and down πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚...... Would be great at home though ...... Wonder if I can get the wife to sign off on 2 machines πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Wonder how much it would cost to drive across on the Plymouth to Roscoff Ferry 🧐🀣
I considered Ro-Ro-ing a duck over to Immingham from Norway a couple of times - DFDS will do it  ... trouble was the good weapons always sold fast on Finn, so didn't get a chance to try it - missed a couple of lovely Atlas,s with tilties
did have a few quotes from DFDS though and was circa 700 quid back in '13/14 for 15t of duck - will have the quotes on file somewhere

God forbid you touch the sacred ground that belongs to the commune (village). They would reopen the Bastille πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
surely the verges constitute part of your property too? Would've thought hedge to hedge would've been in your title ?

Non of the access track (chemain) belongs to me, it is public, right up to and past my gate (don’t ask how the gate got put there ….. sleeping dogs n all that! ). The track is about 1/4 mile long and maintained (???) by the commune.
Back to an earlier part of this thread, this is where all the grief is coming from, hence my desire for a swift result before it all becomes waterlogged again …..

of which you are a part ??
what exactly do you intend to try to do to it - looks a decent enough access track ATM?

Yes I am, and we do our fair share for the commune, it’s like the old days. There is another small lake above ours, which unloved and flooding the chemain, which is in turn flooding my land. Combined with my poor ditches it’s making one bank waterlogged. The mayor is struggling to find who owns the small lake, but has given permission to drain it ( ie dig a break in one bank) and empty it. I don’t want to do that till I have my ditches and some additional drainage in, but it all needs doing before it gets waterlogged again. Only one rule ….DO NOT TOUCH THE CHEMAIN. I don’t want to pee the mayor off as my gate is not where it should be, and moving it is impracticable and would open my lake up to the public (if I then re fenced I would not be able to turn a vehicle around). It’s what we used to call keeping the band in the nick in the old days 🀣🀣🀣🀣.

surely if it were for the good of the commune, some level of common sense would prevail ???

In France. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ coming from a "roast beef " πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ it would take 75 years to get the paper work in order ..... Don't think I would be around to get the permission πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. If my French neighbour had not gone to the mayor, and we had just done it as I suggested, there would have been no issue, but now the door is open ....... C'est la vie !!!!!!

I too suspect it's not the "real" price....I have found this is common practice whilst looking for a digger.
However, the bullet has been bitten 😲. My new to me Cat 301.7d, 2015, weighing in at a shade under 2t should be on the Ferry to France tonight !
Simon's machine was always going to be a push for my budget, and after some chatting, we both agreed..πŸ˜”.
Found this one in York and had a mate check it over. There are a couple of small jobs ( and probably some bigger ones ), that need doing, it's had some paint, but I have seen the before photos it wasn't too bad imho.
Just over 2000 hours, and one owner plus dealer. He agreed to O% rate the VAT, and it was collected by Simon from George White first thing Monday morning ready for the boat tonight, so should be here Thursday \ Friday.
I am nervous and exited in equal measures!
I will post some pics when it lands here.
A massive thanks to all who have helped and advised throughout this journey πŸ™. It's a compromise, but I think it's a good machine to test the waters. If my research is correct, there is a healthy profit to me made, even after some use, which may well lead to bigger and better (machines) things in the future lol.
At least my ass won't be sore now I have finally got off the fence😝.
I will definitely be sticking around, I have already met some great people on this forum ........ and I will probably need some more help in the future lol.
Thanks guys πŸ‘
