Disconnected this plug and the clicking has stopped but I still have an illuminated bulb on the tester across the 40A fuse

As I said before the 2 wires that connect to the offending fuses are 117 and 101 but I cant follow where they go and cant see them on the wiring diagram that I have

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
But I dont have a re stable fuse. Just the test lamp
couple of days and you could have ;) ... could just leave it on a pair of leads for test purposes for now too

Right. Tank lifter pump and small silver top fuel pumps disconnected but I have a clicking on and off like an indicator noise coming from the pump area of the engine when I connect the lamp again and it's still flashing
did you try them one at a time to eliminate each?

which pump?

wonder if the stop solenoid has gone to earth or exploded .... try removing it and disconnecting it

Sorry what exactly is the stop solenoid and where would I find it ?

it's an electrically operated engine stop device .....
instead of an old skool pull cable ...
turns the engine off at the key, instead of having to expend huge mounts of energy and thought on actually pulling a cable to stop the motor, before turning off the ignition key
and are notoriously a PITFA ..... it'll be on the injector pump and have maybe two/three wires to it @Mick-the-fitter will almost certainly be familiar with your m/c ... I'm just chucking generic responses at you for non-specific motors/machines in the hope that we'll hit the target ;) ..... distant diagnoses of electrical issues is notoriously difficult, at the best of times :giggle:

Ps V8druid. Thanks for your patience. I know what its like working with idiots
lacking specific detailed knowledge of a subject, does not make one an idiot Boyo ..... you could be a brilliant mathematician / doctor / surgeon

I have heard talk of this illusive stop solenoid on other chats but dont have a clue if i have one or where it is

And i appreciate every minute you spare me.

did consider this the other night ..... long term though is it worth the investment ,although not astronomic .. once sorted?
Resettable fuses?
I bought one of each value and they live in my test kit. I drop one in when I'm tracking a problem, but no, I don't load the fuse box with them.

Disconnected what I think was the stop solenoid and still nothing although I now have 3 fuses lighting up with the light tester now. I give up 🥴

You'll find it the problem and it'll be simple enough.

This article might help you come up with strategy for finding where the problem is..

Reading through the thread it sounds like it has to be a short to ground. There is a damaged positive wire touching earth somewhere. How could any damage have occurred? What was happening when the problem started?

Could there be a problem with the ignition switch/barrel? I'm thinking it has to be something that's physically happened to cause the short.

Just throwing some ideas out there!
