Cousin was just saying he's just had an offer on one of their fleet audis. Electric job. Less than 3 years old. 80k new . 25k now .😯
and'll probably be half that in 12 months -- walk away

Something popped up about the Audi E-tron electric cars from a Facebook owners group. Something to do with coolant getting into the electric motors which equals bills when failing out of warranty.

Mentioned it before but few years back I was at independent and he had one of the early etrons...
Battery etc had gone just out of warranty .
30k to fix from Audi. Scrapped it .
I imagine the price must surely have come down a bit now on repairs etc?

I did have a look at the e Tron when we're were originally looking they are huge outside but the boot is pathetic, the original e Tron is now the q8 or what ever they use for the EV version.
Coolant I believe is a 2 year or 20k mileage change, seen a few issues with them either leaking or bypassing/leaking to a tank. Think a lot of the bag group EV require 1-2 year.servicing for brakes, coolant and other bits, whereas there is just panel filter on the tesla

Seen a new RS6 edition the other day. The white one with racing stripes. What a weapon!
When we were are the Audi garage they had one of those in the showroom looked smart think they are a limited edition but there was a used one on the forecourt that had some really deep dish alloys that looked amazing, just the 100k price tag is 🤯

Crazy money. Do hold it quite well though.
My bro is in to them got rs4 ATM.

Reckons going to be some good investments over next few years for last proper engine models with all hybrids coming

Biggest problem with all the EVs is the unknown longevity of them

To be fair, modern ICE vehicles are sat the same. my 2013 Ranger is without doubt at the end of it's life at 13 years old and I should never have bought it. despite being only just over 100,000 miles.

s**t is made to be disposable now which IMHO is the worlds greatest problem. we have gone from items being expected to last a lifetime to the entire intention of the manufacturer for it to expire and you return. There is a intresting pondury that if aftermarket parts didn't exist (Like the Fkn Izusu) would we see stuff built to last? But that's not a solution either, cutting greed is.

IF I won an utterly reality-changing amount tommorow I'd go and start a 4x4/commercial van manufacturing company..... Stock size chassis like the defender in 2 sizes (probably 100' and 130') with 3 different powertrain setups - Diesel + 6 Speed, Diesel-Battery Electric (DBE) and solely EV. Have all powertrains designed as unit modules to drop directly into the chassis so you can take your diesel engine out and plonk in the Motor and battery pod.... likewise, you can take the big battery pod out of the EV and chuck in the genset for a DBE, or revert right back to a manual box. Galvanised Chassis.... Basic Basic Interior, Zero yuppism. The back? You get a flatbed..... No it's not a van, no it's not got 7 seats for your kids.... it's a commercial vehicle.

The first company to go build that, do it without being distracted by making the interior look like a fighter jet or trying to make it appeal to tarquine and tina will do a roaring trade.... Cheap stock parts, modular components (i.e engine, axles, gearbox) with tasty service exchange offerings that keep you on the road and take minutes to swap out not days.
The design? you do it once.... for the next 50 years.

I'd like to think your right, but the reality is your apprentice wouldn't be seen dead driving it and Tina wouldn't like it because it's not offered in a pastel colour that matches her nails.

A perfect example is the Steyr (Mercedes) G-Wagon. It was built to your spec. targeted for Mil contracts. But there is far more profit when you line it with plush carpet, leather seats and the fighter jet cockpit.

There was a small company in Oz building a truck you'd like. The cab was custom, but the running gear was all off the shelf.
The company, OKA, has changed hands several times, been shut down and started up again - just checked, it seems they are running again (5th incarnation).

But the UK doesn't want dirty work we are a nation of smoothie sipping tech wizards and ai does all our dirty manual work don't forget.

But seriously grenadier were on the right track but as ever they priced themselves out a bit ...
Their idea of a simple ev pickup that can charged in farm from 3ph etc etc wasn't daft.
I'd still have one they are improving but never going to be what you spec above 😊

I do like @JD450A idea of starting a new manufacturing outfit. Just to keep in simple, stick with a 300tdi diesel and a discovery 1 chassis and auto box. Build around that!!
Oh….hang on….someone did try!!

We have just driven 860 miles to Austria. Left home with a full tank and filled up one other time. Did stop for a break to find it rather hard to get parked…..as these where blocking spaces queuing for a charger….
