Nothing any company "offers" is good for the customer, no business in there right mind actually offers their customers a way to save spending money with them. They hope that 70% of people are to baffled with the spiel they use that you just shrug and let things carry on.
The best scam was direct debit, " oh don't worry sir/madam we'll just make it easy and take the payment every month for you, give with the one hand... now for the kicker, well it went up a bit last month, and in a couple of months it'll go up again, we'll send you an email to tell you, but it will be in amongst all the spam emails you just delete without looking at.
Feck em ,won't have one full stop ,it's not a legal requirement yet i think
i have been constantly notified by our supplier that the electric meter has reached the end of its certified life, i played along with it as i knew exactly when it was fitted and kept the fittment card given to me at the time, finally today they have just agreed that its good until december 2031 so happy days for me today. i am not totally against having one just pissed off with the lies they were telling to try getting me to agree to have one fitted.

they can't force you to have a smart meter though - you can insist on a conventional meter to be fitted ;)

I'll say it again...a smart meter can very quickly become non smart....😃 Id seriously not get to hung up about it. This sort of stuff is installed and maintained be numskulls... absolute doddle to make sure it never talks to "the cloud" the minute they leave ...
I know of several locations that the smart meter "wont talk to the system so we still have to read it manually...oh that's odd what a shame"

Personally I've left ours smart as I'd rather pay for what we use than get screwed over all the time with estimates. Anything sinister ever did loom on the horizon ..our network would suddenly "deteriorate."..

the latest is that they cant get traditional meters now only smart i was told that the only thing you could probably do is limit how much it can sendand the least is reading once a month. i have very little interest in having one at all and should now be able to fend them off untill 2031 hopefully.

weigh it in quick not sure what their next move will be they just seem to hope most will accept the fairy tales they try to pass as truth the big push i think is for time of use billing for when the grid is busy a premium will be charged for certain periods?.
