I have had mostly diesel cars for the last 30 years and never had any problems with the engines but I now got a Kia carens lovely car.But all the problems I have had have been emissions based DPF got blocked had to have all the pipes cleaned out,EGR got blocked had to fit a new one , new ECR valve would not talk to computer and engine light comes on. Now air bag light come on

'xactly what I mean ..... waaaaaaay too much crap on modern diesels and modern cars, full stop. Nice enough places to sit in, but when they go wrong ..... don't they ever.

ditto ... hence only looking at petrol vehicles without any hybrid crap in 'em to lug about .... which're few and far between

Was at electrical wholesalers this week ...manager was saying ALL electric car chargers in stock been recalled...yes every brand and type...for software "updates" basically it's going to be at night or off peak charging only with no option before long....do the maths obvious why.
Every house fits one and a heat pump it would be spectacular if they turned em on at once

Electric cars are a con.
First their very existence is based on the fallacy of "saving the planet" that does not need saving, not from CO2 anyway. However, if you really believe the narrative of the evil CO2, Producing an EV creates way more CO2 than making a conventional car, and you will need to drive it over 100,000 K to offset the extra CO2 handicap. That amount of Km is likely to be the endlife of the EV and then start counting the cost of disposing the carcass and battery.

Yet most folks don't buy EV for saving the planet, even when they may say so. They buy them because many governments are pushing them with tax incentives, subsidies, "free" charging stations and no road taxes on the electricity used to charge the batteries.
What will happen when the government succeeded in converting most cars to electric and the petrol or diesel car industry is finished?
Answer, domestic electricity will go even higher, charging from a domestic outlet will be banned, additional road taxes added, and we will be lumped with expensive to run, limited range and a nightmare amount of disposable cars and batteries to scrap.

Give me diesel anytime. And I can tow my excavator anywhere I like and refuel anyplace, and drive as far as I want.
Electric cars were invented by you guys in the early 1830s and displaced by petrol cars just 50 years later for a reason. The modern EV have not overcome the original limitation of the EV of old powered by lead acid batteries. We are running EV powered by a bunch of AA batteries and call them a new invention ...

We are quick enough to knock that sort of viewpoint yet have zero qwarms about tolerating every other thing except it here.

I'm not religious, if anything the opposite. But you have to view places that stand up for there actual beliefs above incoming view with a bit of respect
