Leccy vehicles do have there place.... If sensible inner city logistics where established they would work exceedingly well.....
Trouble is it requires a level of communism not seen before in the UK that even British Road Services would be sickened by. With containerised goods being shipped between large distribution centers, reduced down to a 18t rigid and on to large hubs located in the urban lands before being split and the last leg/legs being done with vans. Such a change could facilitate Road Trains which IMHO the UK motorway network could happily handle and should handle.
Cars could also easily be yanked off urbanites and replaced with subsidised taxi's..... all could be leccy.
But what we really need to do is loose our love of JIT logistics if we want to save the planet.
