Be grateful for an immune system. My partner Christine is still in Hospital in the Intensive Care Unit having been taken there over 2 weeks ago when she got an infection while undergoing a stem cell transplant to defeat her Lymphoma. The treatment process is to wipe out your immune system and build it back from scratch. Getting Septicaemia after 6 solid days of chemotherapy prior to the transplant is not desirable but is one of the risks.

The transplant appears to be successful as the white cells are on the increase from a very low base. However her survival to this point has required a chest drain, nasal feeding tube, lots of intravenous fluids including blood, platelets, broad spectrum antibiotics, anti fungals, antivirals, morphine every 4 hours and high flow oxygen. She is too weak to move by herself and talking a few minutes on the phone leaves her completely exhausted. It doesn't get much tougher

that is some hand to have dealt Dave .... sincerely hope that she is on the upward curve now ... it's truly amazing what they can do with our frail bodies these days
My immune system is supposed to be depressed and had some pretty desperate blood results when first diagnosed, but has come back slowly over the years .... our blood is remarkable stuff

I s**t you not for me to work in my local area with out breaking any by passing through means a 4.8 mile detour. Doesn't sound alot but 4.8 more to get there and 4.8 mile to get out of there, multiply that by number of journeys and then factor extra time in to me means lots more pollution and lots more juice burnt especially at 8mpgs.

This place is a total mess.

Doesn't sound alot but 4.8 more to get there and 4.8 mile to get out of there, multiply that by number of journeys and then factor extra time in to me means lots more pollution and lots more juice burnt especially at 8mpgs.

This place is a total mess.

And don't forget they will soon be charging me £50 for the privilege of driving on a few meters of these roads for the clean air zones

It's actually trading standards who are in charge of weight limits. I can't see many cops wanting to do the paperwork to send it over so aslong as you don't piss off the residents or go through a camera

like the rest of the country, has been some bit hot here, earlier this week .... our lime tree has been shedding leaves like dandruff

that's the second lot that got swept up with the grass mowings
had to find a bit of board Monday, to keep young Harper in ... too many steps outside the door, for a crawling 10 mth old

who's also pretty adept at hauling herself up off the floor, when it suits
view from the top of the drive after dropping Clara at school Tuesday (fry-day) morning

lovely clear morning and 28C at 9.15

dunno WTF this is coming from ... but the heat certainly made it expand and escape from somewhere .. not had time to look, but guessing it's the fuel return line, which ain't currently connected to the tank

can tell it's been dry ... our little spring, which only 'rises' when it's been very dry, has showed itself again this week ... not seen it since last 'summer'

farm down the road has decided that as everyone'll have their doors and windows wide open, he'd pump his slurry pit out and up to his lagoon, a mile away, couple of days this week .. can damned near chew the whiff ..... usual practice for the bar steward

forecast said rain all day, last night, from 4.00a.m. .... started about 4.30p.m. and didn't it ever come down ..... not gonna need to water much for a few days and at least means I can now burn the large pile of crap that's accumulated since it's been too hot to dare light a fire .....

cheers Jim ... .not done a lot for a fortnight ... rough last week and with Vicki back in school for the last week of term (been on maternity leave since Harper was born) this week's been the first time we've had Harper for more than a couple of hours at a stint ..... we'm getting too bloody old for this tish. .... been a long week .. they arrive at 7.30 ... Feed Clara and take her to school for 8.50 ... entertain Harper for the day, collect Clara at 3.15, feed 'em and then they're collected anywhere between 5 and 6.
just not had a 'gentle break in' ... full on all week .. I'm shot
the four girls went to Plymouth yesterday tea time for a long weekend and me and Squeakymog have some peace for three days .. bliss

we certainly needed the downpour yesterday ... all dry as a chip here, like the rest of the country. It put 10mm of water in the empty tins on me bench .. not gonna be a particularly 'strenuous day', today ... forecast is saying two dampish days, but not looking that way ATM ... thermo is saying 25C, but there's chilly little breeze keeping the air temp. down unless you're out of the breeze.

haven't dared let it out of its box.....have had fields full of hay all around us, but all baled and gone now, so 'the precious' got let out to play yesterday evening ..... did its usual great job on 'compacting' a few weeks crap, to a couple of inches of ash, in the bin
