rude awakening, half seven from Pam ..... "Vicki's got yon rat cornered ... you did say ring when ever" so shot down the village to find she'd locked it in the upper part of her triangular hen coop thing ... had gone up the ramp after eggs and she hauled up the ramp
"You drop the ramp Vicki an' I'll shoot the lil' sod, when he appears" ...... not so much 'fish in a barrel' as trying to down an Exocet with a pea shooter ...... he stopped doing laps for a moment and that was his nemesis

fitted the modified screw in the over-locker, which I'd taken with me and came home for some brekky, with Ratus Ratus in a bag, for cremation in the burning bin

have tried all sorts LL .... he was a wily lil' ****er .... only thing that was gonna dispatch him was a head shot ... tha's a 10" rat

as a rule I'd agree with you Craig, but Vicki's of the opinion that the one she's seen regularly over the last few months has been the same one each time .... time will tell ........ 's one down anyway

Best description I can think of it's like a one wheeled detroit locker. You rotate the outer and it cams the load off like it was never tight.
Have a suspicion it'll work well, but fail quickly

Had a quick release on milwaukee failed on about 3rd go

OK .... 's taken me all evening to catch up .....
this is what I's been about today ... been 'assembling' stuff
lopped a bit of 60.3 chs and ..

gave it a bit of a spin

stuck a bit of plate on it

and gave that a spin

50mm rotabroach was the quickest way of putting a hole in it, 'fore putting the boring bar through it and tidying up the plate

whipped the top off the tank ...

nailed the spigot to it and gave that a spin

BIG tapping job ... and no it's not pissed ... just the way the camera makes it look

assembly time

and I'm out o' pix again ..... Rory'll be pleased

just got to get some fittings to install the fuel pick up and return into the neck lid and that's sorted

seeing as I had all the gear set up, genny and saw ready to rock I lopped up some more bits an' bobs (which I forgot to get any pix of) and put another bit together ....

need a platform for the control gear, valves, QC,s, etc. ....... then it was time for ....

so basically I've had a day assembling Druid-legotechnics

question for you learned fellas to express opinions on....

I need to control the oil cooler's fan motor on the unit I'm building and there's no temp sensor in the tank.

have found these on fleabay ...

Pardon our interruption...

the suggested installation method on these is a bit 'heath' to say the least.
They are however the only adjustable units I can find, so I can set it at say 60-70C ... the level gauge in the tank also has a thermometer built into it, so this'd be easily settable, where ever I want it, using the inbuilt thermometer, to cross check it's dial, which I'd be well surprised at, to find it accurate.

plenty of fixed 190-200F threaded sensors/switches I could screw into a spare port in the tank, but the temp is too high at 90C ... and can't find anything lower.
tank doesn't appear to be a pressurised item as the filler is vented.

Thoughts for installation would be to drill a plug with a sufficiently large hole to allow the larger diameter probe to pass almost fully through, then fill the hole behind it with JB Weld or similar and perhaps a little around the inner part where the probe exits the plug - 'volcano' shaped ..
maybe even countersink the inner end of the hole a little too ... might also tap the hole to help the JB key into the plug ....

what do you lot think of the plan and the adjustable unit .... and I know it's Ying Tong, yet again, but can't find anything like it in the UK

When fitted to a boiler or hot water tank there is usually a brass tube like fitting with one closed end which is fitted first, filled with a grease like substance to ensure contact and then the probe pushed in it. So ur temp probe never actually contacts the oil and obvs makes it easy to change if needed. I'm sure the brass tube has a 1/2 inch bsp thread.

Because he just does you could ask why he's even building it to begin with
