well I won't say I'm back to 100% AND I've now added a bloody cold to the things I've come back with too
Had to deal wit this today though .. Pam wanted taking/dropping off to her mates for their Wed.s walk and I also need the car to take Clara to school in the morning - so
moved Lil' Jakie from his sentry post, securing my boxes for the weekend ...

to a suitable position to get a hold of what was in the trailer ..... ;)

which he handled admirably :giggle: ... and popped it on the floor, whilst I dealt with the rest of the stuff  - two spare wheels, the mag drill and a tray full of tools, slings, ropes, straps, shackles, my wire security slings/locks, jack, etc., in the boot of the Kia and popped the trailer back in its parking slot :)
View attachment 73368
got a transformer out and plugged ' the acquisition' in - ran like a watch - no untoward noises or arcy/brush noises
View attachment 73367
the coolant ring was a 'tad floppy' on the arbor, so pulled that apart and fitted a couple of new O rings ... it's a bit worn, so may have to make it a new one - we'll see how it handle some suds when i come to use it :rolleyes:
View attachment 73365
then had a bit of an inspection and count up after I'd reassembled the arbor with the new O rings
View attachment 73373 View attachment 73366
the two 32mil shorts're 34quid each, the long is 48 :giggle: and 20 odd quids-worth of pins, without looking at the rest of 'em  and none of 'em have been abused - all nice and sharp
Gave the box a good brush out and the drill a bit of clean (will both get a better one when I have the air line out next ;)) and stuck it away (made a note of the arbor's thread type/direction on it for future ref. ;))
View attachment 73372
then slotted all the cutters away after labelling 'em all up -- had to have a bit of a re-organise to fit 'em all in
View attachment 73371 View attachment 73370
could do with a few more tubes for some of 'em
Just managed to park the crane forks away for the night, 'fore tea time -- 'fraid I scratched the paint a bit, rushing :( -- 's gonna need a fresh coat anyway :giggle:

Now then, question for the experts on here :giggle: - I've never owned a rubber tracked machine before and am of the opinion that I may be wise to consider some new ones, 'fore these possibly let go  - they're in decent nick/not worn, but IIRC from what Ollie said they're getting on for 12 yr old and may just be on their lifespan limit??
there are others like these 👇👇👇

everyone's wisdom would be appreciated (y)(y)
My opinion is don't waste your money on replacing them. I've bigger cuts that's 8 years old and the track are still in use

For what your doing just replace when they let go, especially on a mini. It's not like they are hard to get hold of...and they will generally give you notice before they pull apart totally and give you time to order.

thank you guys - yes mostly planings - was hoping it'd be along those lines, but didn't really know just how suddenly they can/might/would 'snap' ?
not sure they're cuts though, look more like cracks ?

If the rubber cracks to deep water gets to the steel bands and rusts them and they snap. But leave the rubber intact. This means the track stretches and keeps falling off. This is the time to replace. I've never seen them snap without prior warning of repeatedly coming loose before. So in essence most the time you get a warning

just found some seller's pix of what's on the pallet
1750975358229.png
1750975583613.png

and a D1-8 drive plate like this one, but bigger -- for the un-initiated - the D1-8 is the camlock system to lock it to the spindle nose on the headstock - this size is hen's teeth to find and are not cheap - ever
1750975693810.png
1750975714338.png

would've really liked this ... and was mega cheap -- but sadly - even after a careful measure up, was 1" too big in the diameter for me Harrison - with some bolt on jaws, would've made a hell of a chuck too, but had to settle for the 17" plate

managed to save 200 quid on the package, delivered - happy enough with that ........... and got to meet a hell of a nice guy driving the seven an' a half tonner who delivered it - his wife's a niece of a friend of mine - small world :giggle:

as an example of what this stuff costs ....:(

what's this worth Guys??
neighbours (nice ones) will be flogging it shortly - IIRC circa 70-ish K miles - will have to find out - manual, reasonably shod - diesel - they had it for towing a donkey box - girl grown out of 'em (much to their pleasure, I would suspect):giggle:

known issues???

Nice looking freelander. They're a great cross between a 'proper' LR and a car. Reasonably economical, comfortable, no issues keeping up with the traffic (or passing it..), fine for fields and tracks.
Need a careful check for rust (like mine 😔) and problems with the 4wd system- shows up as funny handling, funny noises and maybe strange tyre wear. Plus the usual LR 'character flaws' like slipping hand brakes, non functioning door handles/windows, non working electrical toys etc.
Mechanically though they're probably as good as LR have ever managed 🤣👍

No idea on price, in theory 70k miles should help 🤞
I paid 2600 for mine, HSE, manual but modded and high milage so not really comparable

Currently on a 'short' break in Hereford County General!!
Just worked out how to use the wireless...
More when I get let out
Been here since Sunday afternoon -- getting really bored now of being woken up every two hours for yet another test/obs. When feeling 'kin dogruff.
Been to better resorts LOL
Catch you all whenever

Wishing you a speedy recovery Graham, had noticed you hadn't been posting the past few days.

Bloody Pacreatitis AGAIN
Sat watching the tennis Sunday afternoon eating some grapes, melting andsuddenly felt iffy
By the time I'd gotten to the kitchen, every sweat gland in my body had Emptied -- was running off me and Pam was panicking
Stuffed a load of my usual pain killers down my neck, which promptly came back up and eventually let Pam hit three nines.
5 hr wait FFS --this is now our closest A&E so came here
Brilliant TBH ... Morphine,Tramadol, the works--taken some getting on top of this time
Been awake since 5 waiting for the canteen to open
Appetite returned late yesterday and I am bloody starving
'nother 20 min.s and I'll be stuffing bacon, mushrooms, tommies on toast down my gullet
Been dreaming about it since I woke up.

PS
Dunno HTF you guys manage to drive this place from a phone
