how to remove a crimbo tree without spreading the damned thing everywhere - all confined to a 6x6ft area, easily hoovered
WP_20250101_14_48_17_Pro.jpg

then all bagged up and ready for 'the treaetment " :ROFLMAO:
here you go @Stock -- one to ogle about half two tonight

WP_20250102_14_34_28_Pro.jpg

been a glorious day here - 'kin cool out of the sun - but nice in it ...
got a few bits of gas gear out for the "oxy propane thread " for illustration https://www.planttalk.co.uk/threads/oxy-propane.4556/
selection of torches - NM250 omitted - CNBA to drag it out with 10m of hoses attached  or the little AFN with cut head and 7m of 1/4 hose attached
AFN cut head, type 3 and swaged nozzle adadptor, type 5 with cut head and full size nozzles, and a heating torch (IIRC a Livermore jobbie) and a DA pepper pot heating nozzle which replaces a conventional full size cutting nozzle
WP_20250102_13_27_35_Pro.jpg

WP_20250102_13_27_40_Pro.jpg WP_20250102_13_27_44_Pro.jpg WP_20250102_13_27_57_Pro.jpg

these are a handy addition to yer kit .. attached to the gauges, saves swapping bags and torches ..................... or can always use these adaptors to take a 3/8 hose down to a 1/4 to fit on an AFN, but makes the torch unwieldy for fiddly work
WP_20250102_13_30_32_Pro.jpg WP_20250102_13_30_38_Pro.jpg WP_20250102_13_42_28_Pro.jpg

circle cutters ... a must have, either clamped to the torch and rotate the torch like a trammel ........................................... or this replaces the nozzle retaining nut and use it like a trammel with the torch free, to hold in any position - good for big radii
WP_20250102_13_40_45_Pro.jpg
WP_20250102_13_31_54_Pro.jpg

nozzle varieties -- std full size DA and an AFN mini DA type - great for fine work -- Full size DA and a two piece full size propane

these are also handy items .... hose joiners for those 'bigger' jobs - the notched
fittings are LH thread=fuel gas - no notch is RH thread=O2 /argo/non fuel .. ...... these are a must have - nozzle files for keeping yer jets clean (and circular)
WP_20250102_13_42_49_Pro.jpg WP_20250102_13_48_28_Pro.jpg WP_20250102_13_48_37_Pro.jpg

gauges .. two clock, multi stage -very controllable - gives contents and output pressure -- ditto - single stage, two clock, less accurate regulation of gas ............. single stage - no clocks - great if on site and don't wanna get yer clocks damaged
WP_20250102_13_33_49_Pro.jpg WP_20250102_13_33_57_Pro.jpg WP_20250102_13_35_15_Pro.jpg
can also get single clock, single stage, which only gives bottle contents and the body stem has approx. graduations for output pressure - pretty inaccurate but ok for rough cutting, etc.

always try to keep plenty of spares .... you will always need summat in the middle of the job
WP_20250102_13_44_10_Pro.jpg

only thing not covered is flash back arrestors .. three types single shot, auto reset and manual reset-able - the autos you don't realise you've had a pop back (unless the bags have split like a banana) ..the manuals you have to reset, so know - the one shots are as the name suggests - bin 'em ... all designed to protect your gauges (and prevent a flash back into the cylinders) and the inevitable consequences ..
will have to find some to get pix of - should have all three and will come back to this when I get some pix.

Hi again -
Do you have a good place to get a nice circle cutter (both little and the larger radius one) like you've got here?
thanks

mr heales ?
yes Bob ..... Serge's sister, Sylvana was married to Dave - we used to see them often and socialised with them a lot ... we were all at Serge's the night Sylvana had her stroke and Serge rushed her off to hospital, mid meal ... she's absolutely in bits - Dave was her rock :cry:
has been a busy day ...
up to get to town to take the kids to school as usual ...
then a visitor for an hour at ten ...
sort the usual morning tish out (empty wood burner, lug wood, etc., etc.), jump in the shower, get 'suited and booted', early lunch and in the car to head to Dave's funeral, up in the forest for 2.30.

Cross country to Monmouth, dive on the 449 only to see on t'other carriageway, as I got on, a wagon on its side blocking both lanes :mad:
to get up into the forest (of dean) from there you have to go up the 449 northbound, around Dixton roundybout and back down southbound to hang a left at the only set of lights between there and Carlisle, to get over the Wye.

By the time I'd gotten to Dixton ('bout a mile) the traffic was solid, back southbound and queueing northbound t'other side of it
Bollaux!! " What yer gonna do Gra? " from the boss ....
only chance was head North to Whitchurch, hang a right and take a 'magical mystery tour', cross country and up into the forest, from t'other end.

Anyone who has any vague knowledge of 'the forest' (like @bobthebuilder ) will know it's a bloody rabbit warren and you need to live there to stand any chance, once you venture off the main routes
Thank God for sat. nav. - had to be blind faith in the dulcet tones of the dash board -

wasn't long 'fore I'm getting " Have you got any idea WTF you are Gra? " " Yeh yeh, I recognise bits of it " (which I did occasionally - but long time since I've had to venture into 'darkest forest')

Eventually popped out some where I did fully recognise - the wrong side of where I would've been if I'd come at it from Momouth, but we got there in the end, with 10 minutes to spare - good job we'd left early

Big funeral - Dave knew a lot of ppl and had a lot of family and friends .. really nice non-religious service - Directors did him proud, fair play. (y)
Back to Penallt Village hall (good old sat. nav. again - must be 30 years since I was last up there), for 'the wake'/get together and a serious spread -- full house hog roast -- Dave would've loved it and it was awesomely cooked.
got home about seven - stuffed & nadger-ed
Gonna give it another hour - see if the pork (or more realistically/likely), the stunning crackling, is gonna give me any grief, 'fore I hit the sack
was too good not to risk it/take the chance .. feeling OK ATM :giggle::giggle:

place is a shithole
funnily enough Bob we were in there last October with Dave (Heales), Sylvana, Serge and his missus, after having troughed in the Italian place up the road and the room on the right was empty (and reasonably tidy) .. I was a bit reluctant to go in there, knowing its rep. of old .. bar maid was a tad on the ropey side, but the bar was relatively quiet ... sounds like we had a lucky escape ... as said 20 years ago, if you weren't a local it was a no go area -- 'specially if you from Aber :oops:

Druid, it’s a long time since I was down the lanes around there (30+ yrs) but I think if at Dixon you had hung a left and headed in to Monmouth you could have gone down the high st and up over the mouth of the tunnels. I think if you then head out toward Micheltroy you can cut across the river somewhere (Redbrook?) and get on the Tintern road. Follow the road along side the river back up to where you wanted to be.

Like I say, a long time ago and my travels by FS1E didn’t always get me where I expected them to but that’s a whole nother story…….😀😀😀
