dunno WTF this bug is but it has floored me - completely wiped out - can barely walk and just feel 'disconnected' ....
haven't been to bed in a week ...
upright in the chair or drown  ...
banging head all week and absolutely zero sense of smell with not a lot of taste either .. or appetite ...
beginning to wonder if this is some sort of covid variant  ...
terrible chesty cough and just can't clear it ...
no better today than when it hit and can usually shake a proper cold in two days :(
anyone had anything similar??
Tested? Heard someone else saying they lost smell the other week and was rough but he had tested and it wasn't COVID ...or the original it's probably morfed into something else now...

so ... day 24 today ... and starting to feel a bit more me ... snots're gone, cough has all but abated, 'cept for the occasional 'catch' ... still wrecked and done sod all for over three weeks (apart from struggle through kiddy days and the odd foray to town, as necessary) ... grass is looking desperate :( ... have had a terribly sore/ulcerated tongue with several pronounced lumps come up in it the last couple of days ... Anbesol keeps on top of it, all be it in excessive use, according to the 'directions for use' .... they ain't having to deal with it :(
Pam is 10 days behind me ... caught it on my day 10 and has also been proper rough -- oddly she had the tongue issue within a few days of going down with it and is over that phase ... just still barking like a dog and wiped out.
Josh went down with it a few days after me and has also been rough .. he's half my age ....
whatever this is, it is not good ... hope it's the only dose of plague we get this year

I am looking forward to actually doing something, other than just getting through the days, waiting to improve 🤬

am certain this is some form of covid variant and they can't do sod all for that ....
have had two doses of it and there are so many common symptoms ...
just riding it out, waiting for it to **** off
have to say, aside from the new tongue issue, I am starting to feel like I'm 'over the hump' .... (y)

back on the tools next week 'praps :giggle: ..... as said ... the bloody grass sneering at me :(

Nice to hear you’re thinking you’re getting through the other side of it buddy ! Sounds like a right dose

Apparently the anti-virals make a big difference to the severity, but you need to get on them as early as possible.
I was a week in before I tested, so I didn't bother (my symptoms were mild, so I didn't take it seriously. Only tested when I needed to be able to say "I haven't got it" - that didn't work well :ROFLMAO: )

I have so far managed to dodge the Covid thing... but, just back from ten days in Portugal, half way through came down with a cold and a headache for three four days, some other guests at the hotel had just got over a "really bad cold" I am still coughing up green snot 10 days later. Don't think it was covid no loss of taste or smell, but I think I got off lightly because of the heat in Portugal it didn't get chance to take hold properly.

WP_20230729_17_04_26_Pro.jpg

dragged this out from behind 'em whilst they were out the way
WP_20230729_17_04_18_Pro.jpg

Lil' fella handled it well ... easier than the bloody magnet and the bucket's 250kgs from memory ... stuck it somewhere more accessible
anyone remember these? ... ten perfectly serviceable sheets

been trying to get around to/get a hold of Vicki's car for several weeks ... not been up to it for the last month, but contrary to the forecast, it's been a nice day here and she was at home, so got her to bring it up for me to to sort the back brakes out.
have had the new discs and pads here for months  .. couldn't believe what was on there actually passed MOT in Feb. ... efficient and functional - he couldn't fail it on the rust apparently  much to my consternation o_O:oops:
Glad I bought this kit ..
WP_20230803_15_58_48_Pro.jpg

only a cheapy, but wound the handbrake back into the calliper a treat ... made for a much easier job ... undoing the pissy shallow SHCS holding the carrier on was a different story  utter bar stewards ... but got there
WP_20230803_15_58_54_Pro.jpg

I assume the 3M paper is some sort of anti-squeal... no paperwork in the Mintex box?

promised some pix of the discs weeks ago, when they came off .... never seen a set wear like this before ?:oops:o_O .... sliders were totally free and smooth

paint didn't last long after a run up/down the drive ...... not seen a set of discs painted out the box before .. and Mintex discs at that :unsure:o_O
they're off on holiday to Devon next week and didn't want 'em trolling off with out getting these done first

the 'bonfire' in the burning bin the other night, with the poly sheet bits, seems to have had a bit of an effect on the greenery around it ... think it more likely to have been the smoke than the heat ... heat doesn't normally affect the scenery ..

forgot to mention last night ......
was half way through the brake job ...
Pam and Vicki'd been stood around watching/chatting and there is this almighty screaming from down by the house o_O....
jumped up and legged it down there expecting to find Clara'd been stung by a wasp/or worse - a Hornet  ...
few about ATM ...
nope ...
she's clutching her belly and wailing like a banshee .....
been coming down the drive on her little scooter - goes like a loon ...
and instead of avoiding a stick she'd left lying on the floor, decided to go over it ...
big mistake:rolleyes: ...
front wheels stopped and she went over the handle bars and down the tarmac, for her first proper taste of 'gravel rash'...
got a few nasty scrapes ...
one of the worst being the skin the handle bars took off her belly ...
bet she's got some bruises today :(

we've quite a few about this year, but there's one monster in particular has taken a liking to flying in and around my 'tool box' ..... I make a quick exit when he arrives ... haven't had a clear enough swipe at him yet and I am NOT risking not getting the bugger first time :(

had one fly into the house the other night as I opened the door  ... and took a lot of interest in me ... got one of those little tennis racquet shaped zappers (the ones that hurt if you touch 'em  ) grabbed that and he went down like a sack o' tish (y) ... better result than yer average fly ... stopped him dead ... the flies go down but spin round in circles on the floor :ROFLMAO:
don't think I'd take my chances on it being as effective on the big bugger though :oops:
