Nice, looks like a canter and column log saw .
Deffo a few bob there 😎

when you clear £80m after tax, you need to spend a lot to keep it down to that level, in the first place ..... I cannot even begin to imagine what has been spent there recently, in the way of equipment, concrete to bolt it all to and buildings in which to keep it dry(ish) ... aside from the usual replacement/servicing/repair of everything else.
could do with a small fleet of bob cat type skid steers with good operators, just cleaning up 24/7 ... the whole place is one big sh1t tip ... must have H&S in their pockets

Yeh, can well believe it and they have some big kit dealing with the bulk waste, but the amount of crud that just doesn't get dealt with in corners/at edges/everywhere is beyond belief ... may be non productive, but a clean workplace is safer, healthier and just looks soooooooooooo much better ... when it's wet you're literally trudging about in 3-6" of sh1t  .. and kicking up dust clouds when dry

Do they burn it onsite or do jenkinsons etc live there?

pretty sure the latter ... always see them there, but that's what gets captured ...
when the lads took the roof off for the 150 tonner last week, they had to shovel well over 30" of sawdust off the roof to find the roof sheets .... there is crud EVERYWHERE LL.....

Parked up at 07.45 this morning to wait for Russ ... ... couple of pix from where I was sat ... all that timber has come in since Thursday ... we were parked there last week ..

WP_20230819_07_54_48_Pro.jpg
WP_20230819_07_54_57_Pro.jpg

sky was looking seriously black and blowing a hooley when I left the house ... hadn't improved twenty minutes later
five past eight I'm thinking where the hell is he? he's so rarely late ... five minutes later he's on the phone .. still in Ross ... was rigged and ready to lift boat at 06.00 .. lorry didn't show for another hour+ ... was now following a 4m wide boat down a 3m wide lane, to off it a couple of miles away -- progress was slow .. he'd call me when he was leaving .... so got me head down .. :giggle:
rudely awoken at half nine by some tw*t blowing his air horns as he went past :( .. followed 2 min.s later by Russ's call to say he was leaving .... eventually showed at 10.20 ... 449 closed after a truck demolished a car so he had to get creative with his route
chucked me gear in the cab and we swung round to where we had to be ... after a few wrong turns in the yard .. round timber everywhere and routes that were open last week are now no go

got ourselves back where we were Thursday and lifted the top flywheel onto the carriage/saw frame, then picked the lower flywheel and drive pulley into the building and sat it on a seeerious pallet, upright, picked the frame and upper flywheel into the building and hung it over the lower wheel, to mount that.
WP_20230819_11_19_45_Pro.jpg

then lifted the whole shibang back into place ...... to find the the lower flywheel was going to strike the concrete founds as it swung down into position on its mounts o_O:( ... think I said before .. there were two sets of drawings, with two different sets of dimensions ... 110mm difference .. they chose the wrong ones
WP_20230819_13_23_49_Pro.jpg
so picked it back up a couple of feet ..... and had some grub, a snooze, bit of a stroll about, etc., for a couple of hours
WP_20230819_13_25_31_Pro.jpg
WP_20230819_13_25_23_Pro.jpg

while they set about the concrete, with saws, breakers, hammers, chisels, etc. and removed about 100mm x 400 x 500 pocket to clear the bottom driven flywheel :oops:
WP_20230819_13_28_06_Pro.jpg

some pix below of the new line
WP_20230819_13_23_35_Pro.jpg

WP_20230819_13_24_24_Pro.jpg

eventually got enough out and tidy enough for Antonio's satisfaction to let the saw down into its final position
WP_20230819_13_38_40_Pro.jpg

then we had to get all the guarding onto it and in place, which were all weird shapes, took a bit of slinging to get 'em to hang right and then get into place around this weapon. sadly didn't get any pix of 'em on as I was just a bit busy .... did though get some more of the line, stood on top of the top blade/flywheel cover/guard, on top of the beast .....

there are quite a few more in me Photobucket a/c, for anyone interested https://app.photobucket.com/u/v8druid/a/adec63ea-a3ae-4fa9-a634-8fb1da7aa068
lifted a couple more BIG pulleys onto a deck the far side of the machine then wrapped up ..... we're back again on Monday to lift the mother of all dust extraction units, from where it's been assembled on site, onto a lorry and round to the other side of this new building to install it ... stands about 20 ft high so'll be an interesting load on a trailer ... fortunately there's not a single overhead cable anywhere on site :giggle:

Russ was going to run the crane home, then back again Monday, but I took him home and left the Lieb parked on site ... no sense in flogging it all the way home and back ... on a good rate for what was a relatively easy day really and I was home by five :giggle: ... more than doubled me pension this month - in four days (so far):cool:

Good stuff👍 get a little GoPro, dead easy to use and you can just plonk it on a tripod and do some timelapses and stuff.

to lift and load this
WP_20230821_08_18_46_Pro.jpg

no sign of the erectors ...
"They're on their way .. from Yorkshire!!"

two hours later they arrive o_O ...
" where's your spreaders drive "
" no one asked for any !! "
so we borrowed a pick up and went back to Ross .... Russ's big sectional was down at Tim Sutton's (small world, eh -- so met him this morning- nice bloke) his boat Saturday. then went to Russ's place to collect some 2.4m ones, have a coffee and head back ...
so it's 12.00 by the time we'd gotten back, assembled the long spreader and rigged the rest

WP_20230821_11_45_20_Pro.jpg

and gotten ourselves up in the air

ready to back a truck under it ... which eventually turned up at half one  .. from the truck park, 100 yds away
trundled 'round to where it had to go, followed by said truck and load

personally, I reckon the first good blow is gonna put it back on the floor ... them's mighty spindly, flimsy legs, holding up 6.5t, plus a LOT of sawdust
WP_20230821_15_59_16_Pro.jpg

and that is supposed to be our last day there ..... yeh right:rolleyes::unsure:
