Majority of 3.5t tippers can barely carry 750kg legally. It's s**t but going to 7t is just a huge step and gets expensive quick

A mate of mine used to sub to the local council, and apparently used to have to stand and wait in the carpark with the tools and Wacker plate at a local quarry 😂

With the push to electric they really need to revisit weights as with a battery pack you would have a negative load capacity.

I'd like to see them changed to what is now 3.5 tons would be upped to 7 on a car licence no test no poaperwork. The 'O' licence threshold upped to 10 tons. 7-10 tons no paperwork or registration again just a beefed up MOT even shorten it to every 6 months.

Really cant wait until HGV's are banned from London and the elite dont get their Waitrose deliveries be damn sure they would be sorting it then.

I couldn't agree more Fred. I'm in a position now where I need to be able to deliver machines just shy of 2.7 ton.. I also need my van every day which only tows 2 ton. I will have to buy an older jeep or pickup just for that job. More money and hassle.....

The electric pickups that have been rumoured are all far too heavy for 3.5t class, they all seem better suited to 5t class or even pushing to 7t

IIRC ... leccy vehicles aren't subject to VED  ....
WTF are the robbin' bar stewards gonna do, to make up the shortfall to the coffers, when we're all blatting about on leccy ?
I'll be long gone 'fore it happens, but would be interested to know what new level of taxation/con, is gonna get levied to keep the wonga rolling in to the treasury??:rolleyes:

Bit like diesel cars in the early eighties, diesel was 3/4 the price of petrol then everyone started to buy them so the price of diesel went up:mad:

but they all paid VED Mog .... and some now pay lots more than others ..... but what if none of them were liable and was all on fuel costs .... be a lot fairer for lower users  .... but my main point was WTF are the gov of the day going to do to make up the HUGE hole in revenue currently generated by VED (road tax)

impressive tow figures ..... but bet it weighs some empty .... can't see how 3 motors all drawing wattage can double the range and still add 20mph to the top speed ???:unsure:

Considering all cars as of some time next year have to have a 5g connection fitted I would bet that the whole system will go to a pay as you drive system on tax
All the electric vehicles won't get a free ride forever

There is a collection of people probably not far from you converting old vehicles to electric to go off grid
Possibly slightly foil cap types but they are fitting forklift truck engines to mot exempt cars and building wind turbines hydo power plants and solar panels in the hope they can fly under the radar
Few electric motorbikes aswell

That is truly hideous
From what I've read seems to be serious but considering all the other vehicles they do can't believe someone sat there and went, yeah I'm really happy with the way it looks.

Ford's electric f150 towed towed over 1 million lbs

We run a 12 plate daily crew cab tipper, train weight of 7 ton and pulls it a treat ,way better than our new ranger.feels far more solid and capable.

There from all around the black hills near leominster
I think it's the same group that do the vintage scramble races
