So I’m saying we’re on a W recovery. If you listen to people everybody and I mean everybody is saying within reason there flat out .

amazon
Online retail
Now in store reta
Plant sales (May was my second busiest month on record)
Builders
Car sales
House sales and enquires
Stock market recovery’s
etc etc
etc etc

What I think is going on is there is so much furlough money, so many bounce back / cbils loans that people are using it for there own good.

Also given that most things have been closed there is going to be a lot of initial demand that’s built up over three months . If 800 people out of 10000 wanted to buy new clothes for example over the last 3 months and now the shops are open that 800 people may have dwindled to 600 as uncertainty. 600 people in a very short period of time will make things seem very busy. It won’t last and once the 600 people are ok, the new shoppers looking for clothes will be 400 from the usual 800, but this time they will spread over 3 months as the shops are open and there’s no rush.

That’s my general view and right now we have had the first stroke the the W, we are now on the second. The third one which is downward will just be longer than what we have just had. Then the final upward part will be summer 2021 I hope..

I do worry with brexit too this could be a very hard winter . Hopefully people have used there loans correctly and have long term plans for liquidity to ride it out

Agree that in these uncertain times😳 all retailers need to be flexible and competitive. They also need to be fair and loyal to their customers 😊
What about the housing market then guys - is it going to bounce back 😳
My daughter has been trying to sell her house since last October. On her own after a relationship and pub business failure 🤬
Brexit, Christmas and now the Covid-19 Pandemic have all effected it 😬
Major reductions during this time have failed to secure a sale
On a positive note an offer was accepted yesterday. She is taking a major price reduction hit. A family relocating from London are interested.
Hope we can get it completed before the economic crisis really hits us 😉

I think this is storm before the calm so to speak. Missus is at next and her dept. Was +20% up on last year nationwide yesterday. She said they'd of been chuffed with-5%. Being the skeptic I am though pointed out it's a Monday, most people off work, nice weather to queue, pent up demand etc etc

Yeah, prices for used are high at the moment for kit. I'm selling any old stuff I don't need or use just to make space- it's not about the money which to be fair is peanuts in the scheme of things. However, I'm also buying new kit whilst finance is cheap and before inflation hits. The odd second hand thing at the right money such as that forklift too.

Inflation my dears, inflation. Print money for nothing and see what happens. I can’t see anything other than recession and depression coming from this. The job loses will not be erased by everyone buying T shirts in Primark.

Company locally to me took everyone back to work early and were working night and day they had so much work on are now putting folk back on furlough and considering redundancies the bubble popped hard for them with previously awarded contracts being cancelled 😳

Won't high inflation and low rates support property prices
The unknown is if unemployment soars then you would expect prices to fall. The thing is that this mass money printing is being done worldwide on a scale. Possible currency reset when the zeros get out of hand.

" Chancellor Rishi Sunak is cutting the rate of value added tax (VAT) on hospitality and tourism from 20% to 5%, from 15 July 2020 to 12 January 2021. "

so what about the rest of the country struggling, then ??

see they've slashed stamp duty on property under £500K in England which is already cheaper than the Land Tax Duty in Wales anyway

It will all have to be paid for one way or another. At least in future when there's any folding gear knocking about I can feel justified I didn't get a penny of this funny money.

Something odd round here...in the news northwest is high on the charts etc etc...and yet heard from two hospitals theyve had like a handful of cases in the duration..think 1 had like 1 case!
I've met a lot of folk...know a lot...think prob 2 know anyone who has "had it" and no one knows anyone closely who's died from it.
Wife was chatting to paramedic mate, said had quietest 3 months of career...nothing doing..at all!

So..they must all be dyeing outside of hospital..which begs the question..🤷

Just a few ramblings and in no way am I making light of it...just my observations..🤷🤷

from what i saw of it, it was a massive housing complex ... large blocks of flats " More than 3,000 Melburnians remain in hard lockdown in nine public housing towers in the city’s inner north and west. " https://www.theguardian.com/austral...ronavirus-public-housing-tower-hard-lockdowns
