We are heading for massive inflation. Money has been thrown out of the helicopters by all most all governments. All though there will be people with jobs and money there will be a massive drop in consumer confidence. Manufacturing won’t commence at the same rate as before, leads to a drop in supply, therefore prices will go up.
The new build housing market has been underwritten by the ‘help to buy’ loans. Slower build rate of houses will underpin the prices. People with jobs that will now continue to work from home will want to move and improve. I don’t think there will be a major house price correction due to the low interest rates that we are now addicted to!!
I've got everything crossed for that mate, for selfish reasons. Just squeaked in with mortgage approved and survey done before lockdown really set in, so contracts exchanged now. Nice place that she and I both liked from the start, can't see me getting another mortage offer for years with covid now as S/E, so we had no real option but to carry on, albeit with a cheeky 10k off at the last minute. Very little cash in the bank, but plenty of machinery and other assets owned that can earn a crust and will hopefully not loose too much value, unlike cash. Things like the BBLS and the furlough scheme on top of pretty much zero interest rates lead me to conclude, same as Shaun, that inflation is the only real option.

If there is a house price correction I suspect it will be in inflationary terms, where mortgages are hard to get with current uncertainty but wages are going up with inflation. I expect a short term dip (I know our seller asked for and got a discount on their new place also) but Sussex is a rich area and there's no shortage of people who want to buy. If prices drop buy 15% there will be a huge influx of buy to let gold pensioned retired ***** (rents sure won't go down without massive socialist intervention),so I'm calling a floor there for my area at least.

The only thing at all that I could see would cause a proper house price drop (short of PROPER pandemic collapse) is interest rates rising, and I don't see that happening.

Quantative Easing, the pound in your bank account will be worth less in the coming months
Look to Japan's lost generation of 'stagnation' but worse, interest rates go 'negative' charge for keeping money cos government wants you to spend, increase in un earned income tax, higher rates of tax in general to pay for NHS/welfare,vulnerable n can't be arsed

It's hilarious on Facebook the amount of people having an utter tantrum
One half wanting to go to the pub. And the other half wanting us to be barricaded in houses for eternity and all of them thick as mud
We are all as thick as mud if we think we are being told the truth!!!
Scotland had 10 deaths yesterday!! Still in lockdown....🤔🤔🤔🤔
Everyone back to work in cars tomorrow.....good luck in London and anywhere else that relies on public transport!!
Not a problem for me....the only bus down here is the secondary school bus, don’t think that is coming back soon!!

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
I thought it was pretty clear? Crack on! Follow the guidelines, stay 2m apart at all times and wash hands regularly. Should see us through
one thing that is going to cause serious issues is public transport HTF can you possibly do that using a bus or a train???:confused::unsure: ... 1.2m at best from a centre aisle ... more like a metre realistically .. should pull them all out of service .. freight only for trains

most of the ongoing deaths are from the first wave probably Shaun ... poor buggers who've not overcome it, despite weeks on ventilation and any poor sod who has caught it from 'the front line' :( ... give it a couple of weeks :cry:

That wasn't clear at all. In case he is unaware the rules were already if you can't work from home you should go to work.

Certainly is a no brainier, even if you don’t need it, put it into premium bonds for a year and see if get lucky, worst case you just take it back out after the year and hand it back.

I think some people have been shirking going to work and using the virus as an excuse - he’s clarified that where possible people should be getting on with it which should push a few more people back into the fray.
The way I see it is that the gov need to expose more low risk/healthy people to the virus to work towards herd immunity without overwhelming the nhs (which seems sensible to me, but political bullshit and a press that thrives/survives on stirring up fear means that this cannot in any way be spoken of).

Working at the mo,some people are social distancing better than others....supervisor comes right up to cab door wtf,two blokes lifting flags, crack on with exposing yourself to it,people on ventilators 4 weeks, kidney n organ failures,gf's a nurse, used to work uch n the doctors/ nurses describe the 'treatment/effects' as 'brutal',I'll not rush to be testing it out

as I said the other night, there is a huge case for a certain degree of media censorship on a lot of things .... and the current situation is one of those things

The entire car industry is goosed imo - and the collapse was due anyway (bat aids or not). People are driving around in cars they can’t afford, that are priced artificially high as nobody actually buys them in the first place. As soon as demand stops and people stop leasing/pcping/hp’ing new ones to keep up with the Jones’s them the entire house of cards will collapse. There is going to be a massive realignment in values I think - it isn’t unusual for people to drive around in cars apparently worth £50k. Think about that for a second - £50k is a ridiculous (and bullshit!) amount of money for something that costs the same to produce as something that costs £15k.... Mental consumerism at its worst.

thats how I saw it, not hard is it? 🤷‍♂️
