I have not been a fan of Crankie but when she held that press conference with her chief medical adviser who had been visiting her second home I thought she had really lost the plot. At least we haven’t had to suffer the same stupid from Boris saying shagging your mistress is ok if you think you are immune. Live by the sword.....be prepared to fall on it!! It amazes me how stupid these people in public life can be. The Telegraph deserve paper of the year award for watching the twat. reading somewhere yesterday that Cardiff and a few other places are currently widening pavements, in certain areas of the city centre, to cope with social distancing after 'release' ... that to me does not 'smack' of a short term issue, if they're surrendering road width to pedestrians .... roads are a nightmare in central Cardiff anyway !!

Wouldn't surprise me if Central government have given grants for it
Then they take the grant and use it for pavement widening and cycle roots to tick green plans that they will have to implement in the future anyway

But on the turn side as I said in another thread how can we possibly go back to mass commuting and air travel when we have proved we don't need it and how quickly the planet repairs itself if we all just travel less

The thing is there is so many journeys done in a day that really arent nessasary and now you can see that many can work from home. Either way there will be lots of restructuring going off based on the last few months.

the pubs, cafes and restaurants are doomed. Who wants to go sit in one of them? and even if you did a cafe with a seat plan of 20 will be down to about 6 with social distancing involved, they wont want to open it wont be viable.

Car industry is suggested to be ok, they are saying though the ones to cause the price crash will not be dealers, it will be rental firms dumping cars in auction as travel is going to be so reduced so no demand

airlines and airports will suffer

Big ques into normal corner shops likely

no big sporting events or concerts etc with crowds

Housing , will you want to view somebodys house? will the prices crash

how do you ride public transport

Economy wise, in six months the construction sector will be in a bubble with full steam ahead finishing projects with money allocated to them.

12 months time or more, it'll be dead, with only essential infrastructure and government projects happening IMHO.

The entire car industry is goosed imo - and the collapse was due anyway (bat aids or not). People are driving around in cars they can’t afford, that are priced artificially high as nobody actually buys them in the first place. As soon as demand stops and people stop leasing/pcping/hp’ing new ones to keep up with the Jones’s them the entire house of cards will collapse. There is going to be a massive realignment in values I think - it isn’t unusual for people to drive around in cars apparently worth £50k. Think about that for a second - £50k is a ridiculous (and bullshit!) amount of money for something that costs the same to produce as something that costs £15k.... Mental consumerism at its worst.

I'd be straight back to the local. The bar side is maybe 300sq ft at a push. I reckon 75% of the punters would be straight back. We're all used to to be squashed in together anyway. If the restrictions are too much a lot wont be viable. I heard on r4 the other week 60% capacity wouldn't cover a lot of places costs.

Our chippy opened up again Wednesday. Went last night you're supposed to queue 2m apart but I was only punter there. Staff not keeping 2m apart or wearing PPE. Happy days back to normal!

Virgin have pulled out of Gatwick BA are considering it
The staff have been told it's likely to only be one terminal reopening for a while
Some of the staff are being paid furlough but when the government stops paying it not to expect a job to go back to
It is creepy driving round there atm

The parking places round the perimeter are deserted these are full 365 days of the year with overflows away from the airport opening in summer one of which is now covered in weeds
The industrial end of Crawley which is a town that mostly serves the airport is dead hardly anything open tall and barely any vehicles on the road in comparison to other towns in the area

We are heading for massive inflation. Money has been thrown out of the helicopters by all most all governments. All though there will be people with jobs and money there will be a massive drop in consumer confidence. Manufacturing won’t commence at the same rate as before, leads to a drop in supply, therefore prices will go up.
The new build housing market has been underwritten by the ‘help to buy’ loans. Slower build rate of houses will underpin the prices. People with jobs that will now continue to work from home will want to move and improve. I don’t think there will be a major house price correction due to the low interest rates that we are now addicted to!!
