May I make a suggestion ,see if you could cover them up ,try to keep them dryish ,as a little shrinkage will help the job along
Developing the drying out idea a bit more…..

How about drilling say a 1” dia hole down the centre of the wooden post stump and then setting a metal rod that will conduct heat. Maybe copper or alli. Put some sort of low power thermostatically controlled heater (like say a pond heater) on the top of the bar protruding from the timber and then cover with fireproof insulation.like say a welding blanket.

After a few days would the timber have dried and shrunk enough to be able to pull it out of the concrete?

I'll have to have another look under the floor plate Rob ... hopefully it's the same ... did you have a valve on the splitter or operated the return from the pedal ?
I had a flow line from the pedal and a return to tank on the machine originally.

I just took a pressure line from the other side of the valve that the original hammer feed came from.

I then put the splitter between the two pressure lines and have someone work the pedal in the cab to operate the splitter.

Im down at Uskmouth on Tuesday so not a million miles from you. I might have time to call in and have a look and see if it’s the same as mine if that’s convenient?

I can’t promise as I am not sure quite what I’m walking into on site until I see it 😀😀😀

One word of warning though is that the valve fitting was M20 tread and all the other fittings on the machine are imperial sizes just to confuse the unfamiliar person dabbling with hydraulics I.e me!!

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better

are they decommissioning Uskmouth Rob ...
good explanation Boyo ...
will have to find some time to :-
(a) jump start him (usually start him every 2 weeks to charge up a bit and wouldn't have it yesterday :( ) so seat off to get at the damned battery (might see about an Anderson socket, while I'm at it
(b) get him out from where he's parked (in a tight spot ATM)
and
(c) get the spanners out and the floor pan up/off (recall it being a faff), to have a shufty at said valve.

seem to recall the pedal only having a single action though :unsure:
Oh and Tuesdays're a kiddy day ...

see if i can't get some pix of said beast, 'tween now and then

top of concrete is below ground level though, so'll have to have a good scrat first for that ... good idea though (y)

The only problem i see is there only needs to be a slight twist or bend in the post and you probably fail to get them out, may have same problem getting them back in

they were pretty decent lumps going in ....... if I can get the remnants out I can then decide whether the socket'd take a.n.other or whether I am going to have to extract the 8" circular concrete lump too ..... the cleaner i can get either out the easier the new ones're gonna be to insert

I don't think the planners even understand what the proposal is

"The Welsh Government’s ambitions to move to net-zero carbon production by using cleaner forms of power generation “must be given substantial weight”,

this is a battery storage facility ... nothing more .. twist locks full of batteries to store excess power when demand is low on a serious flood risk area .." the site was considered “highly vulnerable” to flooding, and local sea defences were in a poor condition. " as they've been for decades .... the sea walls have been falling apart down there for as long as I can recall

" the application was “clearly the sort of project we should be supporting”, but noted the area in question would possibly not be acceptable for development if there wasn’t already a power station built on the land. " which has been de-commissioned and is no longer a power station FFS

they have zero idea of what they are talking about ... typical planning committee :mad::mad:

@Rob65 - do you have an apprenticeship scheme? If so, would you consider a 47 year old limited-skilled white-British male (from birth) heterosexual balding homeowner married father with an irrational fear of snakes? I can drive, have all of my own PPE and will bring my own dinner every day.
(Hopefully I tick a few boxes - I want to know how to blow s**t up!)?

My auger is coming out to play tomorrow, when I first bought the auger for a big fencing job I was telling a bloke I know about what I'd bought, he said once you've got it you'll then find work for it...I've not found much for it (as im not that intrested in doing fencing ect)...but he's remembered me having one and rings as soon as it involves fence post holes even though he has his own equipment.
