Case cx 130 overcooling

another thought ..... could be a collapsed rubber hose internally in either feed or return, stopping flow .... wouldn't be the first and there is very little pressure to overcome that in the cooling system's flow
Actually there is a manufactured hose on the side of the stat that is a horrible 90degree angle and it doesn’t feel good when I squeeze it 🤔

This is a fast moving subject ! You need to keep up buddy !!
I may be clutching at straws but I need to try something . I’m not convinced it’s blocked as the machine has always had decent antifreeze but its somewhere to start .
Will try the lower of the 2 pipes to connect flushing flow .

worth checking first ... look to be fairly small bore hoses too, covered in placcy protection wrap

them's lil' bar stewards to work on .... return to block for sure and'd guess that boss is totally isolated from what it's cast into ..... just forming an elbow to feed that little sod of a rubber elbow and get the plumbing over the fan belts without issue

looks to me to be going into the block below and to the side of the thermo housing vin red arrow

t'other is going into a boss in the housing green arrow

yes . I did have a look and feel and they do seem ok at the engine end . Will remove under cab panel to see what like where they go up through the floor

that little elbow could also have a build up of scale/crap/gunge reducing its flow capability or even have delaminated and a flap of rubber blocking the flow

try back flush ... that'd overcome any delamination / flap of rubber .... then try flush in right direction ... flap might re-present itself to the flow - if that's what is doing it:unsure::unsure: and you'd get different flow rates ;) or 'praps no flow at all
'course you might have a totla break up internally and have crumb blocking the matrix :cry::cry::oops:

I think I will just replace that wee pipe . It didn’t feel good anyway .

won't hurt for sure ..... good luck with that .. prbably pick summat like it up at a motor factors or go BLUE heat resisting silicone .... available in all sorts of shapes/sizes/bores/etc.

It sounds like you have a similar heater to mine I replaced both heater hoses and changed the routing slightly as there was about a dozen hoses jammed through one hole in the chassis and it was pinching it slightly

What engine is in your duck Tom ?

It’s what I do!
You could try finding heater hoses, block them or loop them on the engine side, see if gauge temp rises! Remove thermostat and run for a shot time see if temp rises! Or as Craig suggested block rad with cardboard.

Can’t remember if that stat has a rubber seal under it, if they don’t and they should, the coolant goes around as the stat moves around in the housing.

Also recently I found a Perkins 1103 running cold with the bottom part of the thermostat missing so not able to close the heater port.

It’s a seal that attaches to the outside rim of the stat then it gets sandwiched between the top and bottom of the housing and it looks like a really good seal

I know this was asked early on, but has this definitely not got an electric clutch on the rad fan, has it?

thought the Q was if it had a viscous James ...... but Vin said it was direct mechanical mount IIRC  .... never seen an electro-magnetic clutch on a cooling fan ... air con yes ... mower decks yes ... dunno as i'd want to entrust my engine's cooling to an EM clutch:oops::unsure:o_O

Usually energised to freewheel, so when not energised it should be fixed. Therefore, in theory, if it’s not working then it could be fixed and over cooling. Thats my understanding of it anyway, I’m no expert at all. Ive got more than one machine with this type of clutch on the fan.
