Case cx 130 overcooling

Sounds to me like the problem is in the cabs climate control, maybe the temp sensor thinks it's hotter than desired and kicking the aircon on to compensate.
With regards running cool, it can sometimes just be light work in winter temps, even a cold wind through the rad can pull the temp down

The thing is I’ve had this machine for years and it’s always heated up very quickly and delivered good heat to the cab even on tick over when it’s cold outside .

Today I changed the water pump . The fault is still the same . At least I can use it now in the knowledge that I won’t be doing any harm to the engine with a bad water pump.
I don’t think it can be aircon kicking in as I can turn it off on the digital heater controls in the cab .
Any other suggestions ?
I think the druids idea of a section of clear heater hose maybe good place to start

When I backwashed the heater matrix via the heater hoses I got a good flow through it via a hose . Could the matrix still be choked and allow very good flow of water directly past ? It was pretty clean when I hosed it out . I did this on my old Hyundai duck years ago and an awful pile of crud came out of it

I have no idea how the air con and heater work together can anyone shed some light ? It does have a temp sensor in cab . How does it work to control temperature ? I’ve never used it as I always have the front window open regardless of the weather . Just for the avoidance of doubt if I remove the belt of the air con unit and there was a fault in it bringing the air con in would the heater still work normally ?
cheers
Vin

No need to remove belt if air con is switched off then the one half of pulley will be spinning but if the whole lot is then it's on when switched off air-conditioning will have an extra matrix infront/behind of the cab heater matrix

I would probably start by checking the temperature of the hoses to and from the heater matrix. I suspect what is happening is that the heater valve has stuck shut and even though you can here it moving it's not letting much or any water past. If the CX130 is anything like a JS130 (Heater unit under the seat, you're gonna have fun getting to it. Not a common part to fail on diggers but go wrong on tractors pretty regular. On a JS130 a PWM signal is sent to the valve to open it to the required distance and signal on valve position fed back to the heater control.

If the heater valve was stuck would it still allow water to circulate in and out of the heater hoses? I have had a water hose on the heater hoses and they are flowing nicely both ways.

How can I check the temp of the water in the hoses ? Is there a tool that will do that ?

What is a PWM signal?
Pulse Width Modulated. It's what a digital computer uses to control an analogue world.
DC can be thought of as an infinitely long pule. - that would equate to the heater valve full on.
For a computer to set the valve at 50%, it gets more complicated.
It could use a motor to drive the valve and position sensors to measure the valve position, but it's much easier to simply turn it on and off 50% of the time.

That's the very short version!

Hey Buddy, does it actually measure the temp of the water inside the pipe or the temp of the pipe itself ?
The surface of the item your pointing at. So if you pointed it at the pipe and moved it along you would see the temperature change hopefully.
Good luck

Did it start overcooling suddenly, was it doing it before you were working on your arm rest? Could a connection under seat have come apart or an earth come apart stopping controller opening valve

Well today I fixed a water leak from a pipe after fitting the new water pump and I removed the belt from the air conditioning condenser. This made no difference .

Lets hope like others have said. Theres something wrong with the control unit

Hi Alan
I’m not sure when it started . It could of been around then right enough . I wasn’t really right in about it though I just pulled the seat forward . I have no info on how the heater /air con works so I’m in the dark . I don’t know if there’s an electronic valve on the heater pipes but I do know that when I put the garden hose on the heater pipe it ran through the matrix and out the other pipe quite the thing . It also worked the other way around as well . This made me think that there can’t be a valve or if there is it must be open . I removed the air con belt today and that made no difference .

I kind of thought I’d ruled that out as air con is now not running so I’m assuming it’s just a direct flow in and out of matrix . There is now no air con to control the temperature so it should be full heat , I think 🤔
It’s a mission to get in at it . The left control pod needs to come off then the seat out for starters. Looking like I might have to do it

Perhaps there's an electronic valve on the matrix that stops open when engine not running. Hence when flushing with hose pipe it runs free
